The basic function of the FCS Career Consultant is to Provide active competitive job development in the area of client choice, professional coaching, training, and support of clients at their worksite to ensure the client learns and can perform necessary tasks at an acceptable level as required by the employe.
Responsibilities: The following additional responsibilities are unique to the specialty of Career Consultant
- Provide professional support to clients at their worksite to ensure the client learns and can perform necessary tasks at an acceptable level as required by the employer.
- Assess appropriateness of referrals; may complete detailed intake and orientation; develop an Individual Employment Plan; and monitor or modify plan, as necessary.
- Develop, implement, monitor and/or coordinate the development of an Individual Employment Plan and job development action plan for each assigned client; review and modify plans as necessary
- Support clients to maintain employment; assist clients in career changes and career advancement planning.
- May facilitate Person-Centered Planning meetings.
- Develop assessment sites.
- May attend DVR and other community-based meetings.
- Assist clients when necessary to complete required stakeholder documents.
Unique Accountabilities: The following additional accountabilities (measures of performance) are unique to the specialty of Job Coach:
- Support the goals and parameters of the client’s Individual Employment Plan are met or exceeded.
- Complete new assessments for reauthorizations on a 6-month basis.
- Track all documents and renew them as they come to expiration date.
- Meet or exceed weekly and monthly set billable hours established by Regional Manager.
Unique Authorities: The following additional levels of authority are unique to the specialty of Career Consultant. Able to determine the scope, content, and parameters of the training and coaching needed to meet or exceed the goals and parameters of the client’s Individual Employment Plan.
Unique Skills, Education, and Experience: The following additional required skills, education, and experience are unique to the specialty of Career Consultant:
- A strong aptitude for the common activities of coaching including excellent interpersonal communication skills, flexibility, action planning, maintaining accountability, record keeping, and a passion for helping others succeed.
Working Conditions: The following describe the working conditions, regardless of specialty, for the role of Career Consultant:
- Work is typically performed in an office setting and/or a wide variety of business work settings and requires community mobility daily.
- Lifting requirements will vary depending on the site, not to exceed 50 pounds.
- Stressors include moving from site to site; pressure of competing priorities and deadlines; and creative problem solving in crisis situations.
- Flexible work scheduling may include nights and weekends.
- This position requires regular travel to various work sites and locations as part of essential job duties.
- This position is a regional role with responsibility for supporting multiple counties within the organization's service area. Assignment locations, work schedules, and service delivery needs may vary based on business and operational requirements. Multi-county coverage is considered an essential function of this position and is reflected in the established compensation for the role.
