Box Office Assistant

The Box Office Assistant is a key member of the Audience Services team, providing exceptional customer service while supporting ticket sales, memberships, reporting, and front-of-house operations. Serving as a primary point of contact for patrons, members, volunteers, and visitors, this position helps create a welcoming experience and ensures the smooth operation of school performances, public performances, workshops, classes, and special events. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Essential Job Duties

Deliver exceptional customer service to patrons, members, volunteers, artists, vendors, and staff in person, over the phone, and through electronic communication.
Process ticket sales and memberships online, by phone, and in person.
Provide accurate information regarding performances, memberships, workshops, classes, special events, and theater programs.
Welcome guests and assist with traffic flow throughout the building before, during, and after performances.
Assist with opening and closing the building as scheduled.
Process cash, credit card, and electronic payment transactions accurately.
Reconcile daily sales reports, balance cash drawers, and prepare bank deposits.
Assist with audience services during school performances, workshops, and public events.
Help coordinate bus unloading, parking, and guest arrival for school performances.
Answer questions and provide operational guidance to volunteers during performances and events.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front-of-house environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Audience Engagement Manager.

Schedule

This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
The schedule is flexible but requires daytime availability during the week, with some evenings and weekends required based on performance and event schedules.

Education, Training, and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous customer service, hospitality, retail, box office, or administrative experience preferred.
Experience handling cash and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification, is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers, patrons, vendors, and community members at all levels.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and ticketing software.
Ability to assist in developing efficient systems and processes that support theater operations.
Serve as a professional representative of The Rose Theater at all times.
Set priorities, meet deadlines, manage projects, and multitask.
Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
Basic computer skills and proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Maintain current certification in CPR/1st Aid.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Primarily an office environment requiring extended periods of sitting, computer, keyboard, and telephone use.
Frequent standing and walking throughout the theater during school and public performances.
Regular outdoor work directing buses and assisting guests before school performances in a variety of weather conditions.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Position requires flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment during performances, workshops, classes, and special events.
On-Site Attendance is required.

Position Compensation Range

Starting Pay: $15.00 per hour
