Full Job Description

Omaha OB/GYN Associates, P.C. is seeking one or two RDMS certified sonographers in OB/GYN to work at both of our locations. We provide diverse shift options to accommodate varying schedules.

SUMMARY

Provides general diagnostic gynecological and obstetric ultrasound exams. The sonographer demonstrates independent judgement in performing ultrasounds of female reproductive anatomy and fetal anatomy. In addition, assists physician in various ultrasound guided procedures. The sonographer uses observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment and management of the patient. This includes detailed reporting and notifying doctors of ultrasound findings in a clear and concise manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Treats patients with respect and sensitivity and exhibits behavior which projects a caring and compassionate attitude.

Uses sonographic equipment to evaluate female gynecological anatomy and fetal anatomy.

Assist physicians in ultrasound guided procedures including, but not limited to saline infused sonohysterography and IUD placement and removal.

Clear and concise communication with not only the referring but also the reading physicians.

Sends acquired images to Viewpoint system and documents findings by creating a preliminary report.

Prepare the exam room for ultrasounds and ensure all equipment is sterilized between appointments.

Maintain sonography equipment and report machinery maintenance.

Schedule preparation, patient history research and charting are completed for each day.

Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.

Complies with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance policies while performing all duties.

Follows American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography ABD/OB/GYN from an accredited program. Must be ARDMS credentialed in OB/GYN and Abdomen. Must have a BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate. Must have two to five years’ experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

This position requires strong people skills, verbal communication, and the ability to make immediate decisions based on sound nursing theory. Must be professional, flexible, caring, and compassionate and exhibit a congenial and sensitive attitude toward patients. Must pay attention to detail. Must have problem solving skills, foresight, and anticipation.

APTITUDES AND TEMPERAMENTS REQUIRED

Must have a high level of energy with the ability to adjust to any justifiable pace. Make decisions based more on fact than feeling. Exhibit behavior which emphasizes compassion, quality, loyalty, and conscientiousness. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, their families, and staff members.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
