Our nurses at HCRM are highly valued members of the team, working closely with our physicians to provide personal and compassionate care to our fertility patients. HCRM staff partners with patients to help them through their fertility journey.
JOB SUMMARY
Provides skilled nursing care to the patient during pre-operative, intra-operative, clinic and post-operative phase. Provides assessment, patient surveillance and timely administration of physician’s orders to prepare patients for procedures. Performs nursing activities in the operating room where the circulating nurse is the patient's advocate. Answers patient needs by assisting the physician and person responsible for anesthesia care. Provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of medical or surgical complications that may arise.

QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of accredited school of nursing required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Current state licensure required
Operating room experience required
Recovery or critical care area experience preferred
BLS/ACLS licensure required

8. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, reviews preoperative patient assessment performed by anesthesia care provider as required by the outpatient setting.
8.1. Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient upon admission according to HCRM policy.
8.2. Develops a plan for patient care based on assessment data; implements and documents preoperative care according to HCRM policy.
8.3. Informs patient and family about routine care and procedures related to the peri-operative experience.
8.4. Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and supports the patient’s right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
9. Addresses patient needs during admission to the procedure room with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting.
9.1. Transports patients to the procedure room according to HCRM policy, safety requirements, and patient needs.
9.2. Identifies the patient and correct surgical intervention according to HCRM policy and communicates with all surgical team members.
9.3. Reviews the patient's medical record and needs to plan care with other health care team members.
9.4. Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient; maintains patient's privacy and dignity.
9.5. Explains intra-operative phase routine procedures and care to the patient.
10. Performs the circulating nurse's functions adhering to approved operating room procedures for the scheduled procedure.
10.1. Prepares procedure room according to the procedure to be performed and patient needs.
10.2. Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure; positions and adjusts equipment as required during the procedure.
10.3. Anticipates needs of the surgical team; assists anesthesia staff by supporting the patient during administration of anesthesia.
10.4. Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares the operative site as directed by established procedure.
10.5. Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards.
10.6. Assists with identification and confirmation of operative site.
10.7. Provides for comfort in the physical environment by monitoring designated parameters.
10.8. Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records appropriately.
11. Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative period.
11.1. Assesses and documents the patient’s physical and emotional status upon arrival in the post-operative area.
11.2. Documents postoperative care and identity of second person in the postoperative area during the patient’s recovery from anesthesia/sedation according to HCRM policy.
11.3. Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered.
11.4. Verifies that a responsible adult will be present with any patient receiving anesthesia for 24 hours post-op.
11.5. Reviews all discharge and medication instructions as written by the physician with the patient and significant other prior to dismissal from HCRM.
11.6. Provides patient with written copy of all instructions and obtains signature of significant other signifying good understanding of all instructions.
11.7. Escorts patient and family to lobby or delegates to other staff.
11.8. Accurately documents information on all procedures in Record of Operations Manual.
12. Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.
12.1. Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction.
12.2. Documents patient care records and other forms accurately according to HCRM policy.
12.3. Accurately advises others responsible for patient care about the patient's status.
13. Other duties as assigned.

- A current Nebraska RN license or reside in a nurse license compact state
- Current BLS
