POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to execute basic operations of plastic sheet extrusion equipment and basic thermoforming operations, which produces high-quality plastic sheet and trays. This position reports to the Extrusion Supervisor.
Pay: $20:00 - $24.00/hour based on experience. Shift Differential added for 3rd shift
Shift: 1st Shift: 6:00am to 6:15pm on a 2-2-3 Schedule
3rd Shift: 6:00pm to 6:15am on a 2-2-3 Schedule
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
- Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
- Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
- Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
- Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately
Quality
- Produces high-quality plastic sheets using extrusion process
- Ensures sheet quality by performing required quality assurance tests and inspections.
- Operates at or below Company scrap targets
- Works to reduce rejected rolls per-month measurement
- Understands and completes daily 5S tasks
- Follows plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP’s
- Thermoforming – examines products to verify conformance to quality standards
- Supports company Food Safety efforts through commitment and compliance with SQF (Safety Quality Foods) standard practices and policies.
- Follow plant quality practices including Good Manufacturing Practices or GMP’s and policies
Productivity
- Attends to an extruder machine and assists the Machine Operator
- Works to achieve 100% on-time completion of scheduled production
- Assists with entering information into plant Real Time Monitoring System (RTM), if applicable
- In Extrusion, handles rolls, and moves finished product roll to curing area
- In Extrusion, makes roll ticket and puts on product as required
- Uses the plant’s AGV system to order/store rolls, if applicable
- May perform various Thermoforming production related tasks.
- Maintains his or her work area in neat condition
- At times may Stack, wrap and label raw materials or finished goods in Thermoforming
- At times may Start machines, run machines and may be engaging controls in Thermoforming
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur and report malfunctions to a lead or supervisor
- At times may stage pallets of finished goods or raw materials for material handling, or drive forklift in Thermoforming
- Assists other workers with specific chores as requested
Additional Tasks
- Completes and fills out daily logs/paperwork as required
- Completes all assigned cleaning/preventive maintenance tasks
- Delivers scrap to reprocessing area in the appropriate manner
- Immediately notifies supervisor of any/all processing or maintenance problems on assigned line
- Reports to work on-time and follows D&W attendance policy and guidelines
- Thermoforming – Record product, packaging and order information on specified forms and records
- Forklift Certification may be required; location specific
- Willingness to work and follow verbal/written instructions
- Moderate computer skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and products with sharp edges. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
