Job Summary
The Appraisal Desk Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end property appraisal pipeline. This includes ordering appraisals through Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs), tracking progress, performing initial quality control reviews on returned reports, and ensuring strict adherence to federal lending regulations (such as the Dodd-Frank Act and Appraiser Independence Requirements).
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple appraisal orders simultaneously while maintaining excellent customer service and communication.
Responsibility
* Order, monitor, and manage residential appraisal requests through approved Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs).
* Review appraisal requests for completeness and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
* Track appraisal status and proactively follow up with AMCs, appraisers, loan processors, and loan officers to ensure timely completion.
* Coordinate property inspections and communicate scheduling updates to all parties involved.
* Review completed appraisal reports for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to investor and agency guidelines.
* Submit appraisal reports for quality control and underwriting review when required.
* Resolve appraisal-related issues, including revisions, reconsiderations of value (ROV), corrections, and documentation requests.
* Maintain accurate records and update loan origination systems with appraisal status, notes, and supporting documents.
* Ensure compliance with Appraiser Independence Requirements (AIR), Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and applicable federal and state regulations.
* Assist in managing appraisal escalations and work with internal departments to resolve delays.

* Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to resolve disputes and discrepancies between parties.
* Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), appraisal management platforms, and specialized mortgage software is preferred.
* Industry Knowledge: Understanding of residential appraisal regulations, including Appraiser Independence Requirements (AIR), USPAP, and Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and VA investor guidelines is highly preferred.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
