About the Role & Training Path
We are seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Part-Time Server & Hardware Technician Intern to join our local operations team in Ontario, CA.
This is a structured, growth-oriented internship designed for individuals passionate about enterprise technology.
Phase 1 Career Goal: Through hands-on mentorship, our primary target is to train and promote you into an Assistant Hardware Engineer role.
Global Exposure: Qualified candidates who show outstanding technical dedication will have the unique opportunity to participate in an international technical exchange and learning trip to China to visit hardware manufacturing/refurbishing facilities and learn advanced supply chain and hardware testing processes directly.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Disassembly & Inspection: Safely tear down, clean, and physically inspect enterprise servers, storage enclosures, and chassis.
Diagnostics & Testing: Mount, power up, and test system components (CPUs, RAM, SAS/NVMe drives, motherboards, power supplies) using standard diagnostic software and Linux/PXE test environments.
Troubleshooting: Identify and isolate hardware failures, bad sectors, or faulty system boards under guidance.
Cataloging & Sorting: Audit, label, and organize tested hardware components into inventory for processing.
Engineering Support: Assist senior team members in developing efficient testing workflows and hardware triage procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Currently enrolled in or graduated from a Community College / Vocational Program majoring in Computer Information Systems, Microcomputer Hardware, Networking, Electronics, or related technical fields.
Hands-on Passion: Personal or academic experience with PC building, hardware repair, server assembly, or electronic troubleshooting.
Basic OS Knowledge: Familiarity with basic Linux commands (or strong eagerness to learn) for running diagnostic scripts.
Growth Mindset: Strong desire to learn enterprise hardware architecture and progress into an engineering capacity.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move server equipment weighing up to 40–50 lbs safely.
Preferred (Pluses, but Not Required)
Knowledge of major server platforms (Dell PowerEdge, Supermicro, HPE).
CompTIA A+, Linux Essentials, or Server+ certifications (in progress or completed).
