Position Description
JOB TITLE: Maintenance Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Chief Maintenance Engineer/General Manager
The following job description pertains to the Maintenance Engineer at the Holiday Inn – Ontario. Job Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer supports the Chief Maintenance Engineer in maintaining the appearance and working order of the Hotel and Restaurant. This is a guest service industry so our focus is on guest satisfaction. You may also be required to do other duties as assigned that may not be listed.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains the exterior of the building, parking lot, and common areas which include snow and ice removal along with policing of the area.
- Maintain interior building structural integrity and appearance to a high quality standard in guest rooms and the restaurant.
- Remodel guest rooms, remove and install drywall, mud, tape, texture and paint wall and ceilings when needed.
- Perform minor plumbing tasks, i.e. remove or install toilets, sinks, repair leaks and clogs, and remove or install fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor electrical repairs including removing/repairing fixtures and switches.
- Install wall paper and flooring products i.e. tile, carpet, vinyl when necessary.
- Maintain guest room air conditioning units and restaurant swamp coolers and filters.
- Move and arrange furniture and turn mattresses when needed.
- Work with vendors and sub-contractors in scheduling maintenance events and ordering supplies.
- Maintain the pool and surrounding area on a daily basis. Winterize and prep for use in the appropriate seasons.
- Keep swimming pool and spa at PH levels approved by State Health Codes.
- Perform basic lawn care duties. Water, cut grass, trim bushes, and maintains flower beds and shrubs.
- Be willing to respond to emergencies after hours.
- Takes care of special request from Front Desk.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally lifting and/or carrying from 5 pounds and up to 60 pounds. On occasion will be required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. You will need to have general knowledge of tools and ladders, applicable to maintenance duties. You will also be working with commercial grade chemicals for cleaning and washing linen.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Must have access to an automobile, appropriate insurance, and valid driver’s license for off-campus errands.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
