Full Job Description

Melancon Funeral Home is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Branch Office Administrator to oversee the daily operations and administrative functions of our Opelousas branch location. This position plays a vital role in supporting families, maintaining office operations, and ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities:

Answer phones and communicate professionally with families, staff, and vendors
Coordinate and prepare funeral service documentation, including obituaries, death certificates, permits, and printed materials for funeral services.
Handle financial transactions with precision and confidentiality.
File and manage life insurance claims
Perform data entry tasks with attention to detail.
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
Assist and support families and funeral directors before, during, and after funeral services, offering compassionate service and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

Exceptional Typing and Organizational Skills: Ability to handle tasks with accuracy.
Computer Knowledge: Proficiency in standard office software, data entry systems, and typing skills.
Phone Etiquette and Communication Skills: Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and ability to understand and work with multiple types of personalities.
General Office Duty Experience: Familiarity with general office procedures and tasks.
Independent Work Capability: Ability to stay motivated and perform tasks while working in a single person office.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 1 hour lunch break
Weekend/Holiday Rotation (Rotation includes working at our Carencro location)

** Currently enrolled in mortuary school or considering a future in funeral service? This is a great opportunity to gain meaningful hands-on experience and learn more about the profession while working alongside an experienced team.**
