Job Description

Stegmeier, Gelbart, Schwartz & Benavente, LLP is a prestigious Family Law firm located in Irvine, California. We are one of the largest and most established Family
Law firms in Orange County – our practice has been devoted exclusively to Family
Law for more than 25 years. We are currently looking to add to another professional to our team of Legal Secretaries and Paralegals. The Family Law
Paralegal will be responsible for supporting the firm’s Attorneys with cases from inception to completion. We are looking for someone who is smart, has a strong attention to detail, and can excel in a fast-paced work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides support to attorneys on basic legal issues, drafting simple pleadings and Judicial Council forms, and preparing/organizing discovery responses

2. Ensures that legal documents are properly formatted and thoroughly proofread for punctuation, spelling, and grammar to produce a finished product for review by the firm’s attorneys

3. Possesses the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines under the supervision of an attorney, including the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects/cases

4. Follows instructions for reviewing, redacting, and assembling documents; drafts basic correspondence as needed

5. Uses good judgment and seeks guidance from attorneys and senior personnel in order to ensure work product is finished in a timely manner

6. Experience and knowledge of procedures for pleadings, discovery, briefs, and trial documents for family law

7. Ability to communicate and work effectively with attorneys, clients, experts and other personnel

8. Ability to work under pressure and to manage demanding caseloads with sophisticated clients

Requirements:

· Must have experience in California Family Law

· Excellent proofreading, computer, and organizational skills

· Excellent verbal and written communications skills

· Advanced skills in Microsoft Office

Education, Experience, and/or Licenses:

· Minimum 2 years experience - (Preferred)

· High School or equivalent - (Required)

· Bachelor’s Degree - (Preferred)

· Paralegal Certificate from ABA approved program - (Preferred)
