Full Job Description

We are Orange County Research Center, a Phase I-IV clinical research facility located in Lake Forest. We are currently seeking detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Assistant/specimen processor (Full Time/Per Diem) to join our team, which is focused on clinical trials and medical office research.

After successful completion of training, the successful candidates will be responsible for coordinating all Pharmacokinetic study samples, maintaining meticulous sample logs for sample tubes, creating timepoints according to each protocol, and maintaining the lab’s inventory. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical research in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Position Overview:

The Laboratory Assistant will play a critical role in the processing and handling of biological samples, including blood and urine, to support clinical trial operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in standard laboratory procedures, and comfortable working in a dynamic research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately pipette, aliquot, and process blood and urine samples for clinical trials.
Operate centrifuges, perform flash freezing, and ensure proper storage of samples.
Prepare and package biological specimens for shipment to local, central, and analytical laboratories.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
Follow SOPs and maintain accurate documentation for all laboratory activities.
Support quality control, safety protocols, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

Prior experience handling blood and urine samples in a clinical or research laboratory.
Proficiency in pipetting, centrifugation, flash freezing, and specimen processing.
Experience packaging and preparing shipments for local and external laboratories.
Research laboratory experience is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

You'll Have:

Associates Degree in a science related field. Bachelor's preferred
Knowledge of clinical research methodology and laboratory safety.
Minimum 1 year experience in a clinical setting processing labs. Research experience in a Pharmacokinetic lab preferred, but not required.
Strong knowledge/understanding of reading and analyzing clinical protocols.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, as well as an exceptional commitment to quality.
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment, as well as work well with others in high pressure situations.
