Full Job Description

Job Summary

Ziglift Material Handling is one of the nation’s leading independent storage solution companies. Ziglift has five branch locations in four states that specialize in providing innovative and cost-effective storage solutions and the largest inventory of new & used pallet racking.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for supervising, evaluating the operations, and developing the department; addressing customer service issues or complaints; and all ensuring shipments meet the customer’s needs and demands.
Manages all aspects related to the transportation department.
Supervises dispatcher and driver performance to ensure business goals are achieved;
Discipline and/or write up direct reports when warranted; makes recommendations for terminations.
May assist with the set up and management of new vendors.
Responsible for addressing issues and disputes on behalf of the company.
Ensures drivers and equipment are performing as necessary to provide on-time service.
Ensures all fleet maintenance programs are current on tractors and trailers.
Maximizes revenue per tractor through appropriate equipment utilization.
Documents and communicates all service-related issues.
Develops a sense of trust and integrity with the customer.
Seeks appropriate guidance from leadership on matters that could negatively impact the company.
Oversee Routing/Shipping schedule.
Coordinates with drivers on physicals and random drug screens as well as CDL renewal deadlines based on Safety Department tracking and correspondence.
Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Works closely with customer service and warehouse departments to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Manage equipment, BIT inspections, and repairs
Ensure carrier billing is accurate
Manage Driver logs, inspection logs, DMV files, DOT regulated forms and random drug testing, CDL Renewal
Manage DOT CERT/PERMITS: UCR, IFTA, MOTOR CARRIER PERMIT, MCS-150
Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of high-volume operational experience required.
Minimum of 5 years leadership experience required.
Strong analytical, problem solving, strategic and innovative thinking skills.
Experience in leading continuous improvement to enhance department performance.
Advanced interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills required; ability to exchange information effectively and tactfully, moderate degree of tack diplomacy when dealing with others and handling sensitive issues.
Intermediate computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Office, Internet, and applicable company-specific applications.
Extreme patience in dealing with volatile situations; flawless follow-up procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations impacting daily operations.

Pay: $70,304 to $75,000 per year.
