General Summary:The Curriculum & Program Support Lead supports the successful implementation of OCEAA's Expanded Learning Programs by assisting with curriculum development, lesson planning, staff support, student engagement, classroom management, and daily program operations. This position works closely with the Assistant Coordinator and the Student Activities & Expanded Learning Coordinator to ensure students participate in engaging, high-quality enrichment activities that align with OCEAA's mission and EL Education principles.The Curriculum & Program Support Lead serves as a resource for after-school staff by helping develop instructional materials, supporting lesson implementation, modeling effective classroom practices, and assisting with behavior management strategies. This role also provides operational support through attendance monitoring, supply coordination, enrichment scheduling, and event preparation. The Curriculum & Program Support Lead does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but provides instructional coaching and support to program staff.
Duties and essential job functions: Curriculum & Instructional Support
- Plan and develop monthly enrichment lessons in areas such as STEM, arts, literacy, physical activity, and leadership, review staff’s lesson plans, and provide activity resources for all KEDS staff.
- Create and facilitate CREW lessons and social-emotional learning activities.
- Support alignment of expanded learning activities with school-day instruction and EL Education practices.
- Maintain curriculum resources and lesson plan libraries.
Staff Support & Program Quality
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to staff in implementing lesson plans, enrichment activities, and student engagement strategies.
- Model effective instructional practices, classroom management techniques, and positive youth development strategies.
- Assist in maintaining consistency in curriculum implementation and program quality by ensuring after school lessons are age-appropriate, engaging, and inclusive across all student groups.
- Conduct informal observations of program activities to assess curriculum implementation, student engagement, and program quality, and collaborate with the Assistant Coordinator to identify support strategies and areas for improvement.
- Provide training and onboarding support for new staff by providing curriculum resources, activity ideas, and implementation support.
- Collaborate with the Student Activities & Expanded Learning Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to identify program needs and support continuous program improvement efforts.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and program planning sessions.
- Provide feedback and recommendations regarding program quality, curriculum implementation, and student engagement; however, this position does not conduct formal evaluations or exercise supervisory authority over staff.
Student Engagement & Behavior Support
- Support staff with classroom management and positive behavior support strategies.
- Provide support during challenging student situations and facilitate restorative circles to promote conflict resolution.
- Help monitor student participation and engagement throughout the program.
- Support academic assistance, homework help, and student goal-setting activities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive program environment.
Program Operations Support
- Support the tracking and monitoring of daily attendance and program documentation.
- Manage all aspects of the snack and Second Harvest meal programs, including program applications and renewals, agency communication, daily meal distribution procedures, participation tracking, record keeping, compliance monitoring, audit preparation, and the timely completion and submission of all required reports, documentation, and program deliverables.
- Maintain program supplies, inventory, and resource organization.
- Assist with preparation and setup of program spaces and materials.
- Support communication efforts, including newsletters, bulletin boards, and family information.
- Contribute curriculum updates, enrichment highlights, student showcases, and program content for inclusion in family newsletters and other program communications.
After School Activities and Events
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of after-school events, showcases, celebrations, field trips, enrichment experiences, and other special activities.
- Help organize student projects and presentations that showcase learning and student achievement.
- Collaborate with the Student Activities team as needed to support school-wide events and initiatives.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Participate in required training and professional development.
- Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education
- Associate’s degree or 48 units of college credit.
- Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with children or youth in a school, after-school, or community-based setting.
- Experience developing lesson plans, enrichment activities, or youth programming.
- Experience supporting classroom management and student engagement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to develop, adapt, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum, enrichment activities, academic supports, and learning experiences that promote student learning and development.
- Knowledge of youth development, learning styles, positive behavior support, and effective classroom management practices that foster student engagement, responsible behavior, and positive decision-making.
- Ability to support academic instruction, including English Language Arts (ELA), English/Spanish Language Development, tutoring, and homework assistance.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, interpersonal, organizational, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to model instructional best practices, coach staff, and work independently and collaboratively while demonstrating initiative, professionalism, flexibility, ownership, and sound judgment.
- Ability to proactively identify needs, anticipate challenges, develop resources, implement solutions, adapt programming, and support continuous improvement.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, confidentiality, and effective conflict resolution when handling sensitive or challenging situations, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, internet-based platforms, and educational technology used to support instruction, communication, and program operations.
- Experience in enrichment areas such as visual arts, performing arts, music, physical education, STEM, recreation, or youth development programming preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
Certifications
- First Aid and CPR Certification (or ability to obtain).
- TB Clearance.
- DOJ/FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout indoor and outdoor program environments while supervising students during activities, recreation, field trips, and special events.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Salary: $25.00 - $30.00/hour
