Objective:
Oakshire exists to create and share great beer and food experiences. The Oakshire Beer Hall’s team, beverage programs, culinary offerings, facilities, and community programming are integral to Oakshire’s mission and continued growth.
The Beer Hall General Manager (GM) plays a key leadership role in the success of Oakshire’s Portland location. Working closely with Oakshire’s Taproom Director, the GM oversees hospitality service, pizza kitchen operations, staffing, events, and day-to-day business operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences and strong operational performance. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality leader with strong operational and organizational skills, a passion for food, beer, and community, and the ability to foster a positive, team-oriented culture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations
- Lead day-to-day Beer Hall operations, including hospitality service, pizza kitchen operations, events, and community programming
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, develop, and retain hospitality and kitchen staff
- Maintain high standards for guest experience, food quality, cleanliness, safety, and alcohol service compliance
- Develop and improve systems, workflows, and operational standards that support efficient service and kitchen execution
- Coordinate front-of-house and back-of-house operations to ensure smooth daily service
- Oversee ordering, inventory, cash handling, sales reporting, and vendor relationships
Events, Programming & Community Engagement
- Plan and execute Beer Hall programming, including live music, beer releases, community events, and the Oakshire Inspires Program
- Coordinate on-site and off-site events in partnership with Oakshire staff, vendors, and community partners
- Serve as the primary point of contact for event space guests, food cart operators, and shared kitchen partners
- Support marketing initiatives, sponsorships, donations, and community partnerships that strengthen the Beer Hall’s presence and guest experience
Business & Administrative
- Lead the Beer Hall as a distinct business unit within Oakshire Brewing
- Support annual business planning, operational goals, and facility improvement projects
- Track and report weekly sales figures and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Schedule:
The General Manager will work a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, which may evolve over time at the direction of Oakshire’s Leadership Team. The schedule will include a combination of administrative responsibilities, operational support, pubtending and kitchen shifts. Flexibility and availability to work evenings, weekends, and special events is required to support staffing coverage, Beer Hall programming, and operational needs.

Required Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum five years of restaurant, brewery, or hospitality customer service experience
- Minimum two years of management experience with direct employee supervision
- Experience overseeing both front-of-house and back-of-house operations
- Experience managing kitchen operations and maintaining health department compliance
- Experience administering and training staff on POS systems
- Experience planning hospitality events or community programming preferred
- Oregon Food Handlers Certification
- OLCC Servers Permit
- Cicerone Server Certification preferred
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and safely move kegs weighing up to 165 pounds using appropriate equipment
- Ability to work in wet, noisy, cold, and fast-paced hospitality environments
- Ability to safely work around cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and moving mechanical parts
