Title: Cellar Associate
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Reports to: Head Brewer, VP Brewery Production
Our Cellar Associate plays a critical role in the production of our beer as their main responsibilities involve everything from the start of fermentation to carbonation. This involves harvesting/counting yeast, cellaring, all fermentation and post fermentation additions, clarification, pasteurization and carbonation of all products. All while working closely with the entire production team and utilizing extraordinary communication.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- CIP, SIP, & purging of fermentation and brite beer vessels
- Yeast management (Harvesting & Counting)
- Product dry hopping and flavoring additions
- Product pH adjustments
- Cellaring, clarification, & pasteurization of products
- Racking beer to barrels
- Fermentation readings
- General cleaning and organization of brewhouse/cellar/warehouse etc.
- Performing equipment maintenance & repairs
- Documentation of all work through google sheets and Ekos brewery software
- General troubleshooting/problem solving
- Daily quality control sensory checks
- Receiving/Loading shipments
- Forklift operation
- Strong communication with all of the production team.
- Following all safety procedures at all times
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Keg Cleaning
- Kegging, canning and bottling product
- Assisting brewers with miscellaneous tasks as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
- Must be 21 years of age at the time of application
- Packaging experience a plus, passion for beer production a MUST!
- Strong ability to multitask, troubleshoot, & problem solve in a fast paced environment.
- Strong desire to learn & collaborate.
- Positive, calm attitude at all times, especially while handling difficult and stressful situations.
- Desire to work in a fast paced and rapidly growing company.
- Willing to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Able to regularly kneel, climb, bend, crawl, twist, lift and carry 55 pounds.
- Able to stand, walk, be on your feet for long periods of time.
- Able to move 200+ pounds using appropriate equipment.
- Able to work in an environment which may be hot, cold, loud and/or slippery.
- Able to work in mentally stressful situations in the conditions listed above.
