About the Opportunity:

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a detail oriented and adaptable professional to join our Records and Analytics Support (RAS) Team as a Criminal Justice Data Specialist (Legal Specialist I/II) . This team touches every report submitted by the more than a dozen police agencies operating in Washington County and builds the cases that allow our attorneys to do their jobs . You will be joining a close-knit, dynamic team that builds the foundation of criminal prosecution s in Washington County . This role is a unique Legal Specialist position where y ou’ll become an expert in how criminal cases move through the justice system, play an important role supporting our criminal prosecution work, and help advance the office’s data driven approach to operational decision making and public reporting.

Legal experience is not required to qualify for the Criminal Justice Data Specialist role, however candidates who possess legal experience may be offered the level II position.

Records and Analytics Support Legal Specialists work in a supportive, team-oriented environment and regularly collaborate with trial team staff, deputy district attorneys, law enforcement agency partners, and court personnel. The position requires the ability to manage high-volume workloads, multi-task concurrent tasks, adapt to shifting workflows, and pivot quickly to address time-sensitive issues as they arise. Responsibilities include meticulous data entry, on-going data tracking, and data quality control within the District Attorney’s Office case management system to maintain data integrity. The position requires strong critical thinking skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining accurate , consistent, and reliable data in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Other k ey Responsibilities Include:
• Creating electronic case files, reviewing imported data for accuracy, correcting/entering missing information
• Requesting additional case materials, retrieving supplemental documents, and updating case records as new information is received.
• Maintaining data quality by validating entries, resolving inconsistencies, and applying standardized tracking codes.
• Monitoring electronic communications and processing court documents such as motions, orders, general purpose orders, hearing notifications, and attorney appointments.
• Entering judgment, sentencing, and probation related information and updating records when conditions change.

Our office handles serious criminal cases. All DA’s Office employees are exposed to difficult material, including reports involving violent crimes, child abuse, sex crimes, assault and homicides as well as crime scene photographs, body worn camera footage, and 911 calls. This work can be emotionally challenging. It’s also meaningful. Behind every accurate record, every resolved problem, and every system improvement is a case involving real people and a community depending on us to get it right.

Knowledge
• Principles of sound business communication; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Business professional writing standards used in formal and semiformal communications

• Intermediate use of case management systems; standard use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Tableau
• Clearly articulate ideas in a concise and organized manner, both verbally and in writing
• Multi-task while managing multiple deadlines and being adaptable to change

• Maintain strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in a fast paced, highstress environment
• Work independently and collaboratively with attorneys, staff, and law enforcement partners

Minimum Qualifications

Legal Specialist II

Four (4) years of experience providing administrative or clerical support, two (2) years of which must be in a legal support role in a law office or in an office environment with a focus on legal issues; OR

Four (4) years of experience providing administrative or clerical support, one (1) year of which is in a prosecutor's office.

A Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field or a Paralegal certificate may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Legal Specialist I

High school diploma or equivalent; AND Three (3) years of experience providing administrative or clerical support.

A Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field or a Paralegal certificate may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Additional Requirements:

Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
