Full Job Description

Varney Manufacturing Inc, is a progressive, growing aerospace / commercial manufacturer. We have been in business for over 22 years and are hiring for experienced CNC machine lathe operators. We have an opening for day shift (5:00am-3:30pm). Please see the job summary below.

Summary:

This position is responsible for operating CNC lathes, including Hass and Mazak machines, and other shop peripheral equipment to make precision machined parts, and tools to exact tolerances and dimensions. Prefer at least 1-2 years experience on lathes. Must interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications. Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds. Most machines are numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or Quality System control procedures.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Set up and operate CNC lathes following blueprints, drawings, and work orders
Edit and troubleshoot G-code programs (Mazatrol, Haas controls, etc.)
Select proper tooling and work-holding devices for each job
Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
Listen for irregular machine sounds and adjust as needed to maintain accuracy
Maintain tooling and perform routine machine upkeep
Keep a clean, safe, and organized work area
Accurately document production and inspection records
Collaborate with teammates and assist training when needed
