Location: Utah
Program: Substance Use Disorder – Intensive Outpatient (IOP) & Outpatient (OP)
Schedule: Full-Time / Part-Time
Setting: In Office & In the Community
Aloha, and welcome.
We are One Love Agency, and we are looking for a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our growing Substance Use Disorder IOP and OP program in Utah.
Before we tell you about the job, we want to tell you a little about us, because if this is the right fit, we want you to feel it.
At One Love, we believe recovery happens through connection, accountability, hope, and community.
We live by a Hawaiian word: hānai-to take in, to raise as your own.
That is how we approach the people we serve, and it is how we approach each other.
We work like a village. Therapists, SUD counselors, peer support specialists, case managers, administrative staff, and community partners each carry a piece of the work. We believe the best care happens when everyone works together around the person we serve.
What This Role Is:
Sometimes the person who can reach someone in recovery is the person who can genuinely say, “I understand. I’ve walked this road too.”
That is the power of peer support.
As a CPSS with One Love, you will use your lived experience appropriately and intentionally to support adults working toward recovery from substance use disorders and, when applicable, co-occurring behavioral health needs.
You will be part of our IOP and OP treatment team, helping clients stay connected to treatment, strengthen their recovery, build natural supports, and move toward greater independence.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individual and group peer support within our SUD IOP and OP programs.
- Use lived recovery experience appropriately to build trust, encourage hope, and support recovery.
- Help clients identify strengths, recovery goals, coping strategies, and healthy supports.
- Support clients in developing recovery routines and connecting with community recovery resources.
- Help clients navigate transitions between IOP, OP, continuing care, and community-based recovery.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-focused peer groups when assigned.
- Collaborate with therapists, SUD counselors, case managers, and other members of the treatment team.
- Recognize and promptly communicate relapse risks, safety concerns, or significant changes to the appropriate clinical team member.
- Complete timely, accurate, and recovery-focused documentation connected to the client’s treatment plan.
- Participate in required supervision, training, and continuing education.
What We’re Looking For
- Current Utah Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certification, or ability to meet Utah certification requirements before independently providing peer support services.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Personal lived experience with behavioral health and/or substance use recovery and the ability to use that experience appropriately in a professional peer role.
- Strong interest in working with individuals recovering from substance use disorders.
- Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Dependability and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.
- Ability to meet required background screening, credentialing, training, and payer requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for community-based services as required.
Previous experience in peer support, recovery services, behavioral health, SUD treatment, mentoring, or group facilitation is preferred.
What Matters at One Love:
We hold ourselves accountable to our Big C’s:
Clients. They are the reason we are here.
Compliance. Doing things the right way protects our clients, our team, and our ability to continue serving the community.
Community Partners. Recovery takes a village, and we believe in building relationships that help people create lasting stability and connection.
We are looking for someone who believes recovery is possible, understands the responsibility that comes with being a peer, and wants to be part of something bigger than simply filling a position.
If you have walked your own recovery journey and are ready to use that experience to help someone else keep moving forward, we would love to meet you.
Come be part of the village. Come be part of One Love.
