Full Job Description

Join our team at Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Part-Time Childcare Specialist in our Promise Program in Orem, Utah! With a competitive wage of $17.50–$23.31/hour, this role offers the meaningful opportunity to support young children while their mothers participate in outpatient substance use treatment. Childcare Specialists are an essential part of the program, helping create a safe, nurturing environment for children ages 6 and under and contributing to a family-centered approach to recovery. Must be 21+ to apply

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM varies
Compensation: $17.50–$23.31 DOE

What You'll Do as a Childcare Specialist

Create fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities for children in the Promise Program.
Support children with daily routines while maintaining a calm, nurturing environment.
Ensure the childcare space is always safe, clean, and supervised.
Work closely with a supportive team to provide high-quality care and enriching experiences.
Adapt to a schedule typically Monday–Thursday, with occasional adjustments based on program needs.
Make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families while growing your childcare and early childhood development skills.

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and team members.
Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with children of various ages, backgrounds, and emotional needs.
Ability to maintain a supportive, structured environment while managing multiple tasks throughout the day.
Basic understanding of child development, age-appropriate behaviors, and trauma-informed care principles (or willingness to learn).
Reliable, responsible, and able to follow safety procedures to ensure the well-being of children in your care.
Must be 21 years of age.
Willingness to participate in ongoing training, supervision, and skill development.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Spanish speakers may qualify for a wage increase
