Full Job Description

About the Job:

This position is responsible for efficiently overseeing all daily compounding operations of the pharmacy while ensuring that all departments are working according to facility's SOP's and to state and federal regulations. The PIC will work directly with the Pharmacy team to ensure optimal pharmacy operations, assist with inspections, assist in daily operational pharmacy duties, monitor training and work with training/compliance team to ensure all training is current.

The pharmacy is closed on Sundays and minimal late shifts required.

Key Responsibilities:

Directly supervise staff pharmacists.
Ensure the Pharmacists verify sterility and compounding procedures are implemented and strictly followed by compounding technicians.
Encourage and manage Pharmacists and technicians to work efficiently as possible
Responsible for the execution of opening and closing activities; either directly, or through delegation to a staff pharmacist.
Represent the facility in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication.
Writing operational and production SOP’s.
Assist with other activities as requested to ensure continuous operational efficiencies throughout the company.
Delegate proper tasks to intended individuals and direct reports.
Accountability for all compounding pharmacists and technicians in regard to pharmacy law and compliance.
Answer clinical questions from health professionals and provide product information.
Ensuring safe work environments, enforcing operational discipline, and monitoring aseptic behaviors.
Maintain state pharmacy license(s) and complete required continuing education requirements during entire period of employment..

Employment Requirements:

Pharmacist license in California or willing to be licensed as a pharmacist in California within 6 months of hire
Solid math aptitude to ensure all calculations are done accurately
Punctual, meticulous, and reliable
Ability to constantly prioritize the workload to ensure that we continue to meet our customers’ expectations on product quality and turnaround time
Courteous manners and professionalism with the public and staff
Demonstrates a strong ability to be adaptable and flexible
Must be available to work occasional Saturdays
Must pass a drug test upon hiring, as well as agree to random drug testing throughout employment
Must consent to and pass a pre-employment background check
Keen attention to detail to ensure the correct products and amounts are used in each prescription
Ability to learn and prepare various compounds accurately and efficiently. Willingness and ability to learn the techniques in other areas of specialization as time permits and need arises
Previous experience working with auditors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of DEA, FDA and state regulations pertaining to compounding and 503(a)
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods of time and have no allergies to chemicals that might be used during compounding.

Compensation:

Starting at $72.00 + per hour, depending on experience.
