What we’re looking for:
This position is an opportunity to step into an established HR function and manage the people strategy for a dynamic, growing organization (50+ employees). The majority of employees are on teams for pulling inventory in our warehouse, assembling orders, and processing customer shipments.
We have a strong HR foundation — including a formal employee handbook, core policies, and our Gusto implementation — and we're now looking for a capable leader to take us to the next level.
You'll partner with leadership to prioritize where HR can have the highest impact — knowing that not everything can or should happen at once. The right candidate is comfortable sequencing initiatives thoughtfully, focusing on what moves the business forward, and saying "not yet" to good ideas that aren't the right ones for this moment.
Reporting to the CEO, you’ll bring deep expertise across the HR function, a strategic mindset, and the project management skills to drive key initiatives across the finish line. You can advise on the tradeoffs of different approaches, and you know how to mitigate risk and protect the company for each approach. You’ll work closely with our leadership team as a true thought partner, and you’ll have a meaningful impact on our culture and our ability to attract and retain great people as we grow.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including time as a senior generalist, HR lead, or sole HR practitioner
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic HR advisor — presenting options, assessing tradeoffs, and helping leadership make informed decisions
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, with the judgment to know when to consult outside counsel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification
- Experience supporting a workforce that includes warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or other hourly/operational employees
- Experience as the sole or first HR hire at a growing company
- Familiarity with Utah employment law (or experience quickly coming up to speed on a new state's requirements)
Key Responsibilities: The role spans the full HR function. You won't tackle all of these at once — part of the job is partnering with leadership to sequence the work.
Over time, you'll:
- Maintain and evolve HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook as the company grows
- Formalize and refine hiring practices and recruitment processes
- Create onboarding workflows that enhance the employee experience
- Roll out our performance management system; own ongoing administration and iteration
- Develop strategies for compensation, benefits, engagement, and retention that help us attract and keep great people
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and lead training on HR policies and professional development
- Maximize the capabilities of our HR and payroll technology stack (including Gusto) and evaluate additional SaaS tools that can improve efficiency and support our scaling operations
- Own end-to-end project management of HR initiatives — driving timelines, securing stakeholder buy-in, and keeping implementation on track in a fast-paced environment
- Act as a trusted strategic advisor to leadership on all people-related matters; provide expert guidance on HR approaches and proactively identify and mitigate risk
The role will be on-site in Sandy, Utah; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This is a high impact role in a rapidly growing business.
