Full Job Description

Role Summary

The Development and Marketing Coordinator is a strategic role that bridges administrative coordination with creative implementation. The coordinator oversees the External Affairs Department’s operational responsibilities, contributing to the creation and posting of social media content and to the creation and execution of events.

Essential Responsibilities

Department Administrator & Project Manager

Manage the organization’s event calendar, collecting all key data in a central location, and assigning communication tasks according to a set protocol
Act as the project manager for the External Relations department, tracking goals, assignments, and collecting data at set intervals
Help to create and implement standard operating procedures to ensure excellence in outcomes
Manage and maintain the Development Storage Room
Serve as an assistant to the CEO with External Relations tasks as needed

Marketing

Support the organization’s PR activities by managing media contact lists and tracking outreach
Support Content Creation, including written posts and videos
Serve as backup for Social Media posts and/or responding to messages
Assist with website management and improvement

Development

Manage grants calendar, ensuring timely submissions of all proposals and reports
Manage the donor database, ensuring excellent data management and processes
Support donor stewardship, drafting thank you letters, supporting outreach activities, and other activities as assigned
Assist with research and writing grants, as well as collecting and submitting data for reports
Conduct development research as assigned
Act as event support as assigned, attending the organization’s three major events annually at a minimum

Job Requirements

Experience with donor CRM systems and data-informed fundraising practices.
Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort-building systems and structures from the ground up
Strong strategic thinking, project management, and leadership skills
Must possess a valid US Driver's License
Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly
Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends

The South Suburban Humane Society (SSHS) is committed to creating a better world for pets and the people who love them. SSHS was incorporated in 1970 as a small group of volunteers who took in homeless pets and worked to find them permanent homes. From those humble origins, we grew into a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization operating a 19,000-square-foot animal resource campus in Matteson, IL, that takes in more than 4,000 pets annually to its shelter, a Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, a Low-Cost Veterinary Services Clinic, and a variety of far-reaching community services. The SSHS annually impacts 20,000 pets and the people who love them through these programs.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
