Join Our Clinical Team!

The Cardiovascular Center of Florida is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and bilingual (English/Spanish) Medical Assistant to join our growing outpatient cardiology practice. This role is essential in providing exceptional patient care while supporting physicians and advanced practice providers in a fast-paced specialty practice.

The ideal candidate is fluent in both English and Spanish, possesses excellent clinical and communication skills, and is passionate about delivering outstanding service to a diverse patient population.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides direct clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced practice providers by assisting with patient care, preparing patients for examinations, performing clinical procedures, coordinating care, and ensuring efficient clinic operations. This role requires effective communication with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients to promote quality care and a positive patient experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Room patients by obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaints, medical history, allergies, and medication reconciliation.
Perform 12-lead EKGs and other diagnostic testing as directed.
Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during office visits and minor procedures.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens when applicable.
Administer injections and medications within scope and organizational policy.
Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care.
Coordinate prescription refill requests according to provider protocols.
Communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking patients, families, and caregivers.
Assist with referrals, diagnostic testing, and care coordination.
Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
Clean, stock, and prepare examination rooms and clinical equipment.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention standards, and organizational policies.
Collaborate with providers, nurses, front office staff, and other clinical team members to promote efficient patient flow.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEducation

High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

Certifications

Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Experience

Minimum of one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience required.
Previous experience working in a physician specialty practice is required.
Cardiology experience is preferred.
Experience performing EKGs, medication reconciliation, injections, and clinical documentation preferred.
Experience using an electronic health record (EHR) required.

Language Requirement

Must be bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff in both languages.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong clinical skills and knowledge of outpatient medical office procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Ability to build rapport with patients while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty practice.
Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong commitment to teamwork and exceptional patient service.
