Neurology Technician (EMG / EEG / VAT)Position Overview
Florida Institute of Neurology is seeking a motivated and compassionate Neurology Technician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for candidates with prior medical experience who are interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in neurodiagnostic testing. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Under the general supervision of a physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Neurology Technician performs neurodiagnostic studies including Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), Electromyography (EMG), Electroencephalograms (EEG), and Vestibular Autorotation Testing (VAT). The technician also assists with patient care, documentation, and clinical operations to support high-quality neurological services.
This position offers opportunities to travel between our nearby office locations, providing support where needed and gaining experience in a variety of clinical settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesNeurodiagnostic Testing
- Perform a variety of neurodiagnostic procedures, including:
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
- Electromyography (EMG) assistance
- Electroencephalograms (EEG)
- Vestibular Autorotation Testing (VAT)
- Determine appropriate testing protocols based on physician orders.
- Ensure ordered studies are consistent with the patient's condition, symptoms, and clinical history.
- Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain neurodiagnostic equipment.
- Produce accurate, high-quality recordings for physician interpretation.
- Perform additional testing variations as requested by supervising physicians.
- Monitor patient condition during testing and take appropriate action when assistance or intervention is required.
Patient Care
- Assist with rooming patients for appointments and accurately document information in the practice's designated electronic medical record system.
- Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Explain testing procedures and answer patient questions while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, dignity, and privacy throughout all interactions.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and medical assistants regarding patient care and testing requirements.
- Provide patients with instructions, educational materials, and documentation related to their procedures.
Documentation & Administrative Duties
- Document all tests accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
- Record patient charges and testing information according to practice policies.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with all documentation and regulatory requirements.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable electrodes and equipment in accordance with infection control standards and universal precautions.
- Maintain testing rooms, equipment, and clinical areas to ensure cleanliness and organization.
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies, equipment, and clean linens.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies for EMG, EEG, VAT, and related procedures.
- Report equipment issues and assist with troubleshooting when necessary.
Customer Service & Team Collaboration
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, physicians, and staff.
- Foster respectful and professional relationships with patients and coworkers.
- Participate in maintaining a positive, patient-centered environment.
- Support clinic operations across multiple locations as needed.
Travel Opportunities
- Travel between nearby Florida Institute of Neurology office locations may be required based on patient volume and operational needs.
- Mileage reimbursement may be available in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications
- Previous medical office, medical assistant, patient care, or healthcare experience required.
- Neurology, EEG, EMG, NCS, or neurodiagnostic experience preferred but not required.
- Willingness to learn and successfully complete on-the-job training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between office locations as needed.
