Full Job Description

Balassa Laboratories is a family-owned manufacturer of OTC pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and related products. We are seeking a hands-on QA/QC and Operations Manager who can provide strong quality and regulatory oversight while also managing the day-to-day work of our approximately 10 employees.

Position Summary

This is a working-manager role, not solely a QA documentation position. The manager will set daily priorities, assign and reassign staff as needs change, monitor productivity and completion of work, coordinate production and support activities, and oversee inventory, raw materials, and accurate data entry. The successful candidate must be comfortable moving between staff supervision and support, operational problem-solving, inventory and records, and QA/QC responsibilities to keep work organized, compliant, and moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations and Staff Management

Direct and coordinate day-to-day activities across production, QA/QC, inventory, data entry, and related support functions.
Review daily priorities and staffing needs; assign and reassign work as production schedules, material availability, and urgent needs change.
Maintain visibility into each employee's assignments and progress; follow up on completion and quality, address bottlenecks, and help keep staff productive.
Supervise, support, and assist approximately 10 employees, and train new staff in job duties, cGMP policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
Oversee inventory and raw-material activities, including the accuracy and timeliness of related data entry and records; identify discrepancies or shortages and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Communicate priorities and operational issues to ownership or senior management and recommend practical solutions.

Quality, Compliance, and Documentation

Provide oversight of all production activities and facility operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Update existing SOPs or draft and implement new SOPs as needed in accordance with FDA 21 CFR Part 211.
Draft, implement, and maintain MBPRs, process validations, Equipment Qualification Master Plans (EQMP), cleaning validations, IQ/OQ documentation, raw-material testing results, and other manufacturing records as needed.
Ensure employees follow approved procedures and complete required production, inventory, and quality records accurately and on time.
Represent the company during audits by regulatory bodies and clients and coordinate required follow-up activities.

Qualifications

A minimum of two years of QA/QC experience in an FDA-regulated facility.
At least two years of leadership or managerial experience, preferably supervising production or operations staff.
Demonstrated ability to organize daily workflow, set priorities, monitor employee productivity and follow-through, and adjust assignments as needs change.
Working knowledge of inventory control and accurate operational data entry and record keeping.
Extensive knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 211 and the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and QMS/ERP systems; knowledge of SOS Inventory software is highly desired.
Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and hands-on leadership skills.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
