SUMMARY:
Oversee, develops and supports all aspects of Life Engagement programming to enhance the living experience for all residents taking into consideration community profitability and competitive advantage

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Establishes and encourages resident socialization, improves daily living skills, expands personal interests, increases physical activity and education, capitalizes on resident abilities, encourages brain health, and ensures residents feel safe and purposeful for all managed communities.
· Establishes program strategies that build and support the Company philosophy, ensure concept, vision, and company standards are executed consistently.
- Creates, develops and implements programs, training tools, process improvement measures, and management methods to achieve innovative programs for all residents that can be incorporated for into all resident programming, special events, celebrations, and resident outings. , and ensures the programs meets or exceeds Company quality standards.
- Plans, develops, implements, directs, and evaluates continuing education initiatives and training programs, in an effort to educate all employees on life engagement programming elements, and philosophies.
1. Enhances and/or develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures by way of systems, and avenues for effective communication that will improve the overall operations of Volunteer programs, resident bus outings, family Life Engagement education and support initiatives, and additional Life Engagement-related functions, in alignment with the objectives of the organization.[JH1]
· Analyzes/Conducts industry-related research related to life engagement. Prepares and presents coherent and effective internal and public educational and public speaking engagements/programs, backed by analysis, evidence, examples, and knowledge ; while maintaining Company image, philosophy, and superlative reputation as industry-leading experts in Senior Living.
- Interacts regularly with executive management and individual department heads to obtain input, present suggestions, and ensure the program priorities are aligned with total company direction.
· Ensures there is a robust activity schedule for both AL and memory care residents which enriches all aspects of their lives.
· Ensures that activities span all 7 days of the week.
· Utilizes evidenced based practices to enhance the lives of seniors with dementia.
· Participates in the supervision of community. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Budgetary responsibilities include budget development, management, and monitoring community life engagement programming expenditures, capital budgets, project proposals, and forecasting financial needs for all associated budget items.
May be asked to serve in manager on duty rotation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Healthcare related certification
· A minimum of 5 years [JH4]experience in memory care or ALF e; and directing leading Life Engagement/Activity responsibilities in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Acts as a good steward of limited resources
· Outstanding customer service skills.
· Ability to work well with seniors and families in a compassionate manor

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. stand and walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to physically access all areas of the facility including accessing the roof. Will need to climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Activities assistant and bus driver may report to this position.
TRAVEL:
Travel is frequently required in this position.

SERVICE STANDARDS:
Displays core values in all situations with residents, family members, other team members, and vendors.
Treats others with kindness and compassion while respecting the opinions of others.
Comes to work with a positive attitude and is joyful when dealing with residents and family members. Remembers that work with seniors is challenging and fun but that at some times may be difficult when they are dealing with diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s. Is able to maintain composure and kindness even in difficult situations.
Establishes and maintains a history of regular attendance; makes appropriate use of PDO and observes department call-in procedures for absence; establishes and maintains punctual work habits. Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks.
Attends and participates in mandatory facility-wide and department training/meetings as required. Is able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of fire, safety, security, and disaster procedure regulations as presented in orientation, outlined in the safety manual, and as pertains to each work area.
Required to respond to emergency situations (i.e. disasters, hurricanes, etc.) by reporting to department and staying until the crisis is over or your position is covered by incoming personnel. This is a mandatory requirement. Refusal to respond may result in termination.
Contributes to the successful achievement of department-stated goals and objectives and will facilitate staff cohesiveness and communication.
