Job Title: Shipping Container Fabricator
Reports to: Fleet/Shop Manager
Job Summary
The Shipping Container Fabricator is responsible for converting 20-foot and 40-foot steel shipping containers into high-quality office containers and specialty rental products for Rental Guys' growing fleet. This role combines steel fabrication, welding, carpentry, light electrical work, insulation, finish work, and general construction into one highly skilled position. Work is performed in a dedicated fabrication shop attached to our truck shop with a small team focused on quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Convert shipping containers into completed office containers and specialty rental units.
· Measure, lay out, and cut openings for windows, doors, HVAC systems, and utility penetrations.
· Operate welders, torches, grinders, saws, and fabrication equipment safely.
· Weld structural reinforcements and fabricate custom steel components.
· Install commercial windows, doors, weatherproofing, sealants, and finish hardware.
· Frame interior walls, install insulation, vapor barriers, trim, shelving, and finish carpentry.
· Install wall-mounted air conditioning units and fabricate protective enclosures.
· Perform basic electrical work including outlets, switches, lighting, breakers, and low-voltage wiring.
· Prepare surfaces and paint completed units as required.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication shop.
· Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely.
· Perform quality inspections and assist with additional fabrication projects for the rental fleet.
Qualifications
· Minimum 5 years of fabrication, carpentry, construction, welding, manufacturing, or related skilled trade experience.
· Strong MIG welding and steel fabrication skills.
· Experience with torches, plasma cutters, grinders, chop saws, drills, and common fabrication tools.
· Strong carpentry skills including framing, finish carpentry, door and window installation.
· Knowledge of insulation, waterproofing, and commercial sealants.
· Basic understanding of residential/commercial electrical systems.
· Ability to read tape measures, layouts, blueprints, and shop drawings.
· Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
· Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work safely throughout the day.
· Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a dedicated indoor fabrication shop attached to the Rental Guys truck shop. Regular standing, lifting, climbing, kneeling, welding, cutting, and use of power tools are required. Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
