About Us

Howards Cams has been building performance camshafts and valvetrain components for racers, engine builders, and street enthusiasts since 1965. Our parts end up in everything from weekend cruisers to dedicated race engines, and every one of them starts on a machine run by someone who cares about getting the profile right. We're a hands-on shop where the work you do is visible in the finished product.

The Role

We're looking for a CNC Operator to run production on our machining and grinding equipment. Grinding experience is strongly preferred — cam grinding or cylindrical — but we'll consider a solid CNC background with a willingness to cross-train.

You'll be responsible for setup, operation, and in-process inspection on your machines, working from prints and job travelers to hold tight tolerances on parts that don't get a second chance downstream.

What You'll Do

- Set up and operate CNC grinders, lathes, and/or mills to produce camshafts and related components

- Load programs, set offsets, and make dimensional adjustments to hold print tolerances

- Dress and change grinding wheels; monitor wheel condition and coolant during production runs

- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and comparators; document results

- Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep your work area clean and organized

- Communicate scrap, tooling issues, and machine problems to supervision promptly

- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements

What We're Looking For

**Required**

- [1–3] years of CNC machine operating experience in a production environment

- Use standard precision measuring instruments

- Comfortable working to tight tolerances and holding consistent quality across a run

- Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently once trained

- Able to lift up to [50] lbs and stand for the duration of a shift

- High school diploma or GED

**Preferred**

- Hands-on grinding experience — camshaft, cylindrical, or surface

- Experience in automotive, performance, or motorsports manufacturing

- Machine tool technology coursework or a completed apprenticeship
