Founded in 1954, Family Services of Westchester is a private, nonprofit, non-sectarian social services agency. FSW’s Head Start/Early Head Start is a federal government program that was created in 1965 to give preschool children from low-income families a “head start” on their readiness for elementary school.

JOB SUMMARY

Family Services of Westchester is seeking a Full-Time Community Engagement Manager to join our team in Mt. Kisco, NY. This role will provide oversight to our Early Head Start and Head Start Programs and support operations across all site locations within Westchester County.

The Family and Community Engagement Manager focuses on parent involvement, including male involvement activities, family support services, case management, transition services, and partnerships with community agencies. Leads outcomes and accountability, including supervision of Family Service staff, Parent Involvement Staff services, and programming.

RESPONSIBILITES

Provide leadership, supervision, and oversight of Family and Community Engagement services across all Head Start and Early Head Start programs, ensuring alignment with the Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework
Supervise, coach, and support Family Advocates and Family Engagement staff, including performance management, professional development, and continuous quality improvement activities
Oversee family partnership services, family goal setting, referrals, community resource coordination, parent leadership opportunities, and comprehensive support services to promote positive family outcomes
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, school districts, health providers, social service agencies, and other stakeholders to strengthen services available to children and families
Ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, monitor family engagement data and outcomes, oversee documentation and reporting requirements, and participate in federal monitoring, self assessment, and program improvement activities

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Family Early Childhood Education, Public Administration, or related field- (Required)
Master's Degree -(Preferred)

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in family services, social services, community engagement, Head Start, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience. Experience supervising Family Advocates, Family Service Workers, or related staff
Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework.

SKILLS

Ability to assess and monitor job performance of staff, in order to determine training needs and capabilities of staff.
Ability to effectively communicate with community members and groups, managers, regulatory agencies, and families both individually and in group settings.
Ability to supervise and manage staff effectively with the guidelines of the agency’s Head Start policies and mandates.
Ability to work as a positive team member.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to prioritize demands in order to meet requirements and timelines.
Knowledge of various software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Power-Point, and Publisher
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and instructions verbally and in writing.
Capable of writing comprehensive reports and business correspondence, as well as proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general social services-related journals and technical procedures
