Position Title: Instrumentation Account Manager
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Our client is a trusted leader in providing scientific products, diagnostic tools, technical expertise, and personalized customer support to laboratories, researchers and healthcare professionals. The company takes a personalized approach to serving customers through focused guidance, responsive support, and having the expertise needed to help clients make informed decisions. They are seeking an Instrumentation Account Manager to deliver exceptional customer service through the field sales, installation, maintenance, and technical servicing of medical and diagnostic equipment.

Position Summary
The Instrumentation Account Manager is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing medical devices to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. This role demands technical expertise, mechanical aptitude, strong critical thinking skills, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to support laboratory professionals and facilities.

This role will support identifying new market opportunities, assist the Business Development and Sales department with building strategic partnerships, and lead initiatives to achieve revenue and market share objectives in the realm of instrumentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Installation and Setup: Install and configure medical instrumentation at client sites, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to specifications.
Maintenance: Perform regular preventative maintenance to ensure the reliability and longevity of medical devices.
Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
Customer Support: Provide technical guidance and training to customers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment, clearly communicating complex technical and scientific concepts to laboratory staff and clinicians of varying technical backgrounds.
Compliance: Ensure all services and repairs comply with regulatory standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Documentation: Maintain detailed service records, including maintenance logs, repair reports, complaints, and client interactions.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts and tools inventory to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
Collaboration: Work closely with sales and customer support teams to address client needs and feedback.
Demonstrations: Conduct instrument demonstrations for customers both on video and in person.
Conferences: Attend trade shows to provide technical information and assist with regulatory compliance in promotional activities.

Sales:

Make sales calls in person or by phone to customers, tailoring your pitch to individual customer’s needs and documenting outcomes for future reference.
Expand and develop the customer base by researching new market segments, networking at industry events, and leveraging referrals.
Focus on key regions for growth, and prioritizing outreach based on potential.
Schedule, coordinate, and set up sales activities, including trade shows, product demonstrations, and seminars, to engage prospective and existing clients.
Prepare sales forecasts for the assigned territory using historical data, current trends, and input from team members to create accurate projections.
Follow up with customers to maintain contact, address inquiries, provide additional information, and ensure ongoing satisfaction with company products and services.
Handle customer complaints by investigating concerns, offering appropriate solutions, and following up to confirm resolution and satisfaction.
Provide input on plans related to advertising, promotional materials, and trade shows, drawing on field experience and customer feedback to optimize marketing strategies.
Deliver sales presentations to key customers, highlighting product features, benefits, and value propositions tailored to their business objectives.
Provide market updates and information on developments through regular briefings to management and colleagues, ensuring informed decision-making.
Maintain regular contact with the home office to ensure customer accessibility, update team members on progress, and align strategy and support needs.
Submit written reports on all relevant developments and events promptly, including competitor moves, emerging opportunities, and risks.
Maintain and update CRM meticulously to reflect current account status, engagement history, and follow-up actions.
Prepare and submit expense reports in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company guidelines.
Ensure compliance with quality systems and adhere to proper sales methods for cleared and research devices, maintaining up-to-date knowledge on regulatory standards.

Other Duties:

Handle other projects, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 50% travel within the United States and Canada with potential for overseas travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or 7 years of equivalent experience in Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

Essential Skills

Proficient in using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and software applications.
Proficient in the use of MS Office.
Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal abilities, with the proven ability to explain complex technical and scientific information clearly, build rapport, and maintain professional composure in customer-facing settings.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and engagement interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members, including active listening and the ability to translate technical details for non-technical audiences.
