Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with Dr. Prabha Sundaravadivel and other members of the CeRIS team on an interdisciplinary research project related to computer vision and aerial robotics in agriculture. The project will involve drone optimizations, computer vision, closed-loop control, multi-modal sensor fusion, machine learning, and transfer learning methods. The candidate will also work in collaboration with scientists at the USDA-ARS Crop Production Systems Research Unit, Stoneville, MS to collect data during the cropping season. This role will guide research and the research staff within the department. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal is expected if progress is satisfactory, and funds are available. Moderate exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards. Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and loud noises expected.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Task

Help design and conduct research within a specified field.

Receive advanced training from a designated principal investigator.

Responsible for leading a project (in vitro and in vivo).

Operate specific equipment within the chemistry lab.

Teach techniques to others within the department.

Train and supervise junior research staff, including students.

Required Education/Experience

Ph.D. in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering.

A combination of experience and education may be considered.

Postdoctoral research experience.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
