The Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Leader will oversee clinical operations within the Adult Inpatient Medical Surgical department, commonly known as the med surg unit or med surg floor, one of the hospital’s most dynamic and essential service lines. This busy inpatient medical surgical floor cares for a diverse adult population with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, offering high-acuity exposure that sharpens assessment and leadership skills. Supported by a collaborative mix of new and experienced nursing staff, the Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Leader will foster mentorship, clinical excellence, and cohesive teamwork while ensuring efficient throughput, patient safety, and exceptional care coordination.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Leader will provide frontline leadership, operational oversight, and clinical guidance to a team of dedicated registered nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include staffing coordination, quality improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness, budget awareness, and professional development coaching. The Medical Surgical Clinical Nurse Leader will partner closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, case management, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, and support staff in a culture built on respect and collaboration.
