Position Summary:
The Communications & Brand Marketing Manager is responsible for bringing the Lewis Museum's brand to life through creative marketing, integrated campaigns, and exceptional visitor-facing experiences. Serving as the department's internal brand marketing manager, this position manages the execution of graphic design and marketing initiatives that increase visitation, strengthen membership and fundraising efforts, support exhibitions and public programs, and ensure a consistent, high-quality brand experience across every visitor touchpoint.
The Communications & Brand Marketing Manager manages the department's creative operations, ensuring every campaign, publication, exhibit graphic, digital experience, and marketing asset reflects the Lewis Museum's brand standards. This role manages graphic design production, website content, email marketing, environmental branding, wayfinding, creative vendors, and production while transforming strategic priorities into polished, engaging marketing campaigns that advance the museum's mission and organizational goals.
Working collaboratively with the Director of Communications and the Communications & External Relations Manager, the Communications & Brand Marketing Manager manages the implementation of marketing initiatives, oversees graphic design production, website content, email marketing, environmental branding, and marketing collateral, ensuring all materials are executed in alignment with the museum's brand standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Brand Management & Creative Operations
- Ensure consistent application of the Lewis Museum's brand standards across all marketing and communications materials.
- Manage the execution of graphic design projects from concept through final production in alignment with the museum's brand standards.
- Oversee the production of graphic design assets across print, digital, environmental, and promotional platforms, ensuring all materials are visually compelling, accurate, and brand consistent.
- Manage creative workflows from concept through final production.
- Review creative work for quality, accuracy, brand consistency, and completeness prior to final approval.
- Coordinate designers, freelancers, photographers, videographers, printers, fabricators, and other creative vendors while managing production schedules, project priorities, and timelines.
- Design and produce professional in-house marketing materials for routine projects using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite while coordinating larger creative initiatives with external designers.
- Maintain brand templates, creative assets, and marketing resources to ensure consistency across all communications.
Integrated Marketing Campaigns
- Execute integrated marketing campaigns supporting exhibitions, public programs, special events, memberships, fundraising initiatives, retail promotions, and institutional priorities.
- Develop campaign timelines, creative assets, and implementation plans in partnership with the Director of Communications and the Communications & External Relations Manager.
- Coordinate paid marketing and promotional campaigns by working with media outlets, publications, advertising vendors, community partners, and collaborative organizations to execute print, digital, and cross-promotional marketing initiatives.
- Create marketing presentations, sponsorship materials, promotional collateral, and campaign reports.
Website & Digital Marketing
- Serve as the primary manager of the museum website, ensuring content remains accurate, engaging, visually consistent, and aligned with institutional priorities.
- Coordinate website updates and serve as the primary liaison with the museum's website vendor for technical support, enhancements, troubleshooting, and larger development projects.
- Manage the museum's email marketing program, developing and executing campaigns that promote exhibitions, events, memberships, fundraising initiatives, and institutional announcements.
- Monitor website and email performance and recommend improvements that increase engagement and visitor conversion.
Visitor Experience & Marketing Operations
- Serve as the museum's internal marketing lead, ensuring all visitor-facing marketing materials remain current, accurate, and on brand.
- Manage the development, production, and distribution of visitor guides, museum guides, maps, brochures, rack cards, and other printed collateral.
- Manage the production of environmental graphics and wayfinding materials, ensuring directional signage, exhibition signage, visitor information, and branded environments remain accurate, consistent, and visually compelling.
- Coordinate the design, ordering, installation, and replacement of interior and exterior marketing, promotional, and wayfinding signage in partnership with museum staff and external vendors.
- Ensure marketing materials and physical brand assets are updated to reflect current exhibitions, programs, operating hours, memberships, pricing, and institutional initiatives.
- Maintain inventory of printed collateral, promotional materials, branded displays, and marketing assets.
Project & Vendor Management
- Serve as the department's project manager for marketing initiatives, coordinating timelines, deliverables, creative production, and vendor relationships to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Manage marketing calendars, production schedules, and creative workflows across multiple simultaneous projects.
- Coordinate work with printers, creative agencies, designers, web developers, photographers, videographers, and other external partners.
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries, templates, brand resources, and project documentation.
Collaboration & Department Support
- Partner closely with the Communications & External Relations Manager to deliver integrated marketing and communications campaigns.
- Collaborate with departments across the museum to develop marketing initiatives that support institutional goals.
- Participate in activations, community outreach initiatives, exhibitions, and museum events as an active member of the Communications Department.
- Support social media campaigns through creative asset development, campaign planning, and collaborative content creation.
- Assist with supervising and mentoring interns and student workers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, brand management, creative services, digital marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience executing integrated marketing campaigns from concept through implementation.
- Experience managing websites using a content management system such as WordPress.
- Experience developing email marketing campaigns using Constant Contact or a similar email marketing platform.
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite with the ability to design and produce professional-quality marketing materials.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience managing creative vendors and external agencies.
- Excellent proofreading, attention to detail, and quality assurance skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for mission-driven organizations, museums, arts and culture, or nonprofit marketing preferred.

Work Environment & Schedule Expectations
This role operates in a fast-paced, hybrid, highly visible museum environment and requires flexibility to support evening, weekend, holiday, and event-based programming, public activations, community engagement opportunities, and institutional priorities as needed.
Physical Requirements
Ability to support on-site event execution, including setup, breakdown, placement of signage and promotional materials, and movement of communications collateral or event materials as needed. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed in support of departmental and institutional activities.
Transportation Requirements
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally for meetings, events, community outreach, activations, and partnership opportunities as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional priorities.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000
