Takumi Stamping Inc. is looking for an experienced Overhead Crane Operator to join our first-shift production team. In this important role, you will safely move stamping dies, steel coils, fixtures, and equipment throughout our manufacturing facility. Your work will help keep production running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Duties
- Safely operate pendant- or radio-controlled overhead bridge cranes.
- Lift, move, stage, and position stamping dies, steel coils, fixtures, and equipment.
- Support die-setting and die-change activities at stamping presses.
- Load and unload coil racks and stage raw material in designated storage locations.
- Complete and document pre-shift crane and rigging inspections.
- Inspect slings, chains, hooks, spreader bars, and other lifting devices before use.
- Select the correct rigging equipment and lifting method for each load.
- Communicate clearly with floor personnel and maintain control and visibility of loads.
- Verify material identification tags against production paperwork or scanning systems.
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, equipment malfunctions, and damaged rigging immediately.
- Maintain clean, organized crane bays and staging areas in accordance with plant standards.
- Assist with general material handling and forklift operation when qualified.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to two years of overhead crane operating experience in manufacturing, steel processing, or another heavy-industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of rigging practices, load handling, and safe load transportation.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, material tags, and production schedules.
- Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to complete Takumi Stamping crane operator training and certification after hire.
Preferred Experience
- Handling steel coils or stamping dies.
- Automotive manufacturing, metal stamping, or Tier 1 supplier experience.
- Forklift certification or NCCCO/employer-recognized crane certification.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This position requires extended standing and walking on concrete surfaces, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, reaching, and twisting, and the ability to climb step ladders when necessary. Employees must have sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to judge load position and clearances and may be required to complete a vision screening.
The work is performed on a high-speed metal stamping plant floor and includes exposure to manufacturing noise, temperature changes, moving equipment, and overhead loads. Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, gloves, and a hard hat in designated areas.
