Off The Hook Yacht Sales is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial General Manager to lead operations at our Mid-Atlantic Hub located at Piney Narrows Marina on Kent Island, Maryland. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Company's Maryland operations while driving profitable growth, operational excellence, inventory expansion, customer satisfaction, and team development.
The Piney Narrows location represents a significant strategic investment and serves as Off The Hook's Mid-Atlantic operational headquarters. The waterfront campus enhances the Company's ability to source, store, recondition, finance, market, and sell inventory throughout one of the nation's most active boating markets. With capacity for approximately 150 boats, multiple office buildings, direct water access, and integrated logistics capabilities, this location plays a critical role in the Company's long-term national growth strategy.
The General Manager will be responsible for transforming this facility into the premier yacht sales and brokerage operation in the Chesapeake Bay region while establishing strong community relationships, building a high-performing team, and executing the Company's growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for all Maryland operations
- Develop and execute annual operating plans aligned with Company objectives
- Drive revenue growth while maintaining operational efficiency and profitability
- Monitor business performance through established KPIs and implement corrective actions as necessary
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, urgency, and continuous improvement
Sales and Brokerage Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of yacht brokers and support staff
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top brokerage talent
- Drive brokerage production and inventory acquisition
- Increase regional market share throughout the Chesapeake Bay and Mid-Atlantic region
- Support achievement of Company sales, margin, and inventory objectives
Inventory Growth and Asset Management
- Expand the Company's inventory pipeline through strategic acquisitions, brokerage listings, consignments, and
dealer relationships
- Maximize utilization of the Piney Narrows storage and waterfront facilities
- Oversee inventory presentation and merchandising standards
- Partner with internal teams to optimize inventory movement throughout the national network
- Improve inventory velocity while protecting asset quality and profitability
Inventory Management Leadership
The General Manager will build out and oversee an Inventory Manager function responsible for the following:
- Performing pre-purchase inspections on incoming inventory
- Inputting data from pre-purchase inspections into Company systems
- Quoting major repair and reconditioning work to support buyer budgeting
- Inputting incoming survey results and working with the buyer to create a work order
- Conducting frequent work order list review, inputting receipts, and updating work orders
- Supporting the survey process, closely managing CAOV, creating the CAOV document outlining repairs, and completing after-sale hand-off
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer receives an exceptional buying and selling experience
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism throughout the sales process
- Build long-term client relationships that generate repeat and referral business
Community and Business Development
Serve as the Company's primary representative throughout Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay region by:
- Building relationships with marina owners, yacht clubs, service providers, financial partners, and industry organizations
- Identifying strategic partnerships that enhance market presence
- Participating in regional boat shows and industry events
- Promoting the Off The Hook brand within the local boating community
- Supporting community engagement initiatives
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Maryland facility
- Ensure efficient coordination among sales, logistics, service providers, finance, and operations
- Maintain high standards for facility appearance and operational readiness
- Ensure compliance with Company policies, safety requirements, and applicable laws
Financial Management
- Manage operating budgets and expenses
- Monitor profitability and key financial metrics
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies
- Support forecasting, planning, and business reporting
Talent Development
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain exceptional employees
- Conduct regular coaching, performance discussions, and development planning
- Foster an engaging, high-performance culture aligned with Company core values
- Build leadership bench strength to support future organizational growth
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Marketing, Marine Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in marine, automotive, luxury retail, dealership, brokerage, hospitality, or related customer-focused industries
- Proven success leading multi-functional teams
- Demonstrated experience driving sales growth and operational performance
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, partners, and community stakeholders
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate boats (or willingness to obtain necessary certifications)
- Marine industry experience
- Yacht brokerage or dealership management experience
- Experience managing inventory-intensive operations
- Experience leading multiple departments or locations
- Knowledge of marine financing, vessel transactions, and brokerage operations
Success in this role will be measured by Revenue growth, Gross margin performance, Brokerage transaction volume, Inventory acquisition and listings, Inventory velocity, Customer satisfaction, Employee engagement and retention, Recruiting and development of brokerage talent, Operational efficiency, Budget performance, Market share growth throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Working Conditions
