Position Summary
The Houseman / Laundry Attendant is responsible for supporting the Housekeeping Department by maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all hotel public areas while also ensuring that hotel linens, towels, and other washable items are properly cleaned, dried, folded, stored, and available for daily operations.
This is a combination position requiring flexibility throughout the shift. The employee must be able to transition between laundry responsibilities and houseman/public-area duties based on the needs of the hotel. The goal of this position is to help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment for our guests while providing dependable support to the housekeeping team.
Essential Houseman Duties
- Maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of all hotel public areas, including the lobby, hallways, elevators, stairwells, entrances, guest restrooms, fitness center, and other common areas.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors as needed using approved hotel equipment and cleaning procedures.
- Empty trash receptacles throughout the hotel and clean the tops, sides, and surrounding areas of all trash cans.
- Clean and maintain the front and side entrances of the hotel, including doors, glass, sidewalks, and entrance areas.
- Clean cigarette disposal containers and remove cigarette butts and trash from designated exterior areas.
- Walk the hotel parking lot and exterior areas regularly to pick up trash, debris, and cigarette butts.
- Ensure public restrooms are cleaned, sanitized, and fully stocked throughout the shift.
- Assist room attendants by delivering linens, towels, amenities, toiletries, and other housekeeping supplies.
- Remove dirty linen and trash from housekeeping areas as needed.
- Stock housekeeping closets and linen storage areas.
- Assist with stripping guest rooms when necessary.
- Assist room attendants and housekeeping management during high-occupancy periods and heavy checkout days.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping-related requests from the Front Desk or management.
- Assist with minor cleaning projects, deep-cleaning assignments, and other housekeeping duties as directed.
- Report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, or unusual conditions immediately to management.
- Follow proper procedures for any guest property or lost-and-found items discovered while performing duties.
Essential Laundry Duties
- Collect, sort, and properly separate hotel linens and towels according to established procedures.
- Operate commercial washers and dryers safely and according to manufacturer and hotel guidelines.
- Use the appropriate amount and type of laundry chemicals for each load.
- Wash, dry, fold, and organize towels, sheets, pillowcases, bath mats, and other hotel linens.
- Inspect linens for stains, damage, excessive wear, or items that should be removed from service.
- Maintain an adequate supply of clean linens for room attendants and hotel operations.
- Keep laundry carts organized, clean, and properly stocked.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room throughout the shift.
- Clean lint traps and designated areas of laundry equipment regularly.
- Keep floors free of standing water, lint, trash, and other safety hazards.
- Properly store clean linen to prevent contamination.
- Maintain separation between clean and soiled linens.
- Notify management immediately of malfunctioning washers, dryers, chemical systems, or other laundry equipment.
- Assist with linen inventory and organization as requested.
General Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and ready to work for all scheduled shifts.
- Maintain a professional appearance and follow hotel uniform and grooming standards.
- Follow Hilton and hotel-established cleanliness, safety, security, and guest-service standards.
- Maintain a friendly, courteous, and professional attitude toward guests and coworkers.
- Respect guest privacy and never enter occupied guest rooms unless authorized or instructed to do so.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures when using chemicals, cleaning equipment, laundry equipment, and other machinery.
- Properly use personal protective equipment when required.
- Follow established procedures for handling bodily fluids, hazardous materials, and heavily soiled linens.
- Communicate effectively with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Maintenance, and hotel management.
- Help maintain appropriate inventory levels of housekeeping and laundry supplies.
- Work as part of the housekeeping team and assist in other areas when hotel operations require additional support.
- Complete additional duties and special projects assigned by the Executive Housekeeper, General Manager, or other hotel management.
Guest Service Expectations
All team members are expected to contribute to a welcoming and positive guest experience.
The Houseman / Laundry Attendant should:
- Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide assistance or directions when appropriate.
- Respond promptly when a guest requests assistance.
- Immediately communicate guest concerns or complaints to the appropriate manager or Front Desk team member.
- Avoid discussing internal hotel matters, operational problems, employee issues, or confidential information with guests.
- Maintain professional behavior in all guest-facing areas.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull.
- Lift and carry approximately 25–50 pounds.
- Push and maneuver laundry carts, housekeeping carts, trash containers, and other equipment.
- Perform repetitive movements associated with folding linens and operating laundry equipment.
- Work around commercial laundry equipment, cleaning chemicals, heat, and varying temperatures.
- Safely climb stairs and move throughout all areas of the hotel.

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
