Position Summary: The Marketing Coordinator supports the Museum of Ventura County's marketing, communications, and outreach efforts through the coordination and execution of marketing projects, content creation, social media management, website updates, email marketing, and event promotion. Working under the direction of the COO, the Marketing Coordinator helps ensure timely and effective communication of the Museum's exhibits, programs, events, fundraising initiatives, and community activities through a variety of print, digital, and social media channels. This position requires a flexible schedule and regular attendance at evening and weekend events throughout the year.
Working Conditions: Typical office environment, including extended periods of computer use and desk work. Regular attendance at Museum events, exhibitions, programs, and community activities is required, including evenings and weekends. Flexible scheduling will be provided to accommodate event coverage.

Supervises: This position supervises no employees directly and may assist with coordinating volunteers and interns on marketing-related projects.
Compensation: $28.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
General Responsibilities: The Marketing Coordinator supports the Museum's marketing and outreach efforts that communicate Museum activities, exhibits, programs, events, fundraising initiatives, and special projects to the media and general public. This position works closely with Museum staff, outside vendors, and creative professionals to ensure marketing projects are completed accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities include:
· Assist with coordinating marketing initiatives across Museum departments, including exhibits, collections, programs, visitor experience, events, and development, to ensure timely and effective promotion of Museum activities.
o Weekly updates on assigned projects and marketing activities are expected.
· Maintain the marketing calendar and assist with coordinating the timely completion of marketing deliverables, promotional materials, and communications projects.
o Regular updates on deliverables are expected.
· Participate in cross-departmental planning meetings and coordinate marketing needs with Museum staff.
· Maintain a positive and professional image of the Museum within the community.
· Adhere to and help maintain the Museum's visual identity and brand standards across all marketing and communications materials.
· Update website content and coordinate website changes with the Museum's website vendor to ensure information remains current and accurate.
· Coordinate with outside designers, printers, website vendors, media partners, and other service providers to support marketing and communications projects.
· Create, schedule, and monitor content across the Museum's social media platforms in accordance with approved marketing plans, priorities, and brand standards.
o Regular performance reports and analytics updates are expected.
· Create and distribute email newsletters and other electronic communications.
· Draft press releases, media advisories, and other public communications materials for review and distribution.
· Assist with community outreach efforts, event promotion, and media relations activities.
· Attend and support Museum programs, exhibitions, community events, and fundraising activities to assist with promotion, content creation, and visitor engagement.
· Capture photographs and video content at Museum events, exhibitions, programs, and community activities.
· Provide marketing support and on-site coverage for Museum events, including evenings and weekends as required.
· Track marketing expenditures and maintain vendor records.
· Maintain organized digital files, photo libraries, marketing assets, and content archives.
· Compile marketing analytics and prepare reports for management review.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes)
· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Business, or another relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Two to three years of relevant experience.
· Experience creating content for social media, websites, and email marketing platforms.
· Familiarity with web content management tools; WordPress preferred.
· Strong organizational, time management, teamwork, and prioritization skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· Genuine enthusiasm for the services and mission of the Museum of Ventura County.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common software programs.
· Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software.
· Familiarity with website and social media analytics tools.
· Experience administering social media accounts and supporting digital marketing campaigns.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diversity of people.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes):
· Experience in a nonprofit or museum setting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
