Wage: $28-$32 Hourly

Job Summary
The Facilities Assistant Manager supports the Facilities Manager in overseeing the maintenance, repair, cleanliness, safety, and efficient operation of all company facilities. This position coordinates daily work, supervises facilities and maintenance employees, supports vendors and construction projects, and performs hands-on maintenance as needed. The Facilities Assistant Manager helps ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within approved budgets, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements while supporting Goodwill VSB's mission.
Please note that this position has a 180-day introductory period.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists the Facilities Manager in supervising facilities, maintenance, and janitorial employees, providing coaching, training, and mentorship to improve safety, quality, productivity, and mission support.
Coordinates and oversees day-to-day workflow, work assignments, schedules, and project priorities.
Provides daily direction and serves as the department lead in the Facilities Manager's absence, within delegated authority.
Assists with interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and training employees.
Monitors employee performance and assists with timely, constructive performance evaluations, recognition, coaching, and corrective action in accordance with company policy.
Builds and maintains a positive, accountable team through clear communication, consistent expectations, and follow-up.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Supports daily maintenance and facilities operations to ensure service requests, preventive-maintenance tasks, repairs, projects, and store or department needs are completed safely and on schedule.
Maintains and monitors monthly preventive-maintenance checklists for all assigned locations; identifies overdue or recurring issues and recommends corrective action.
Receives, prioritizes, assigns, tracks, and closes work orders using the UpKeep application; ensures labor, materials, status updates, and completion notes are recorded accurately.
Communicates and coordinates with the Facilities Manager, district managers, store managers, Mission Services leaders, to schedule work and minimize operational disruption.
Performs and oversees repairs and preventive maintenance, including plumbing, minor electrical work, drywall, carpentry, HVAC support, painting and finishing, doors, windows, lighting, and flooring, within the employee's training and authorization.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, make sound decisions within delegated authority, and escalate significant risks or expenses appropriately.
Excellent organization, time management, follow-through, and attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to prepare and present reports, estimates, schedules, budgets, and recommendations in clear formats.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software and the ability to learn and use computerized maintenance-management systems, including UpKeep.
Honesty, integrity, reliability, punctuality, and commitment to Goodwill VSB's mission, services, and policies.
Ability and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe shoes or boots.

Required Experience
The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position:

Minimum three to five years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, construction, or a related field.
Prior lead, supervisory, or facilities-coordination experience required.
Valid driver's license, current automobile liability insurance, dependable transportation, a clean driving record, and insurability under the agency's insurance carrier.
Successful completion of the required background check.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
Ability to stand, walk, and work at multiple indoor and outdoor locations for extended periods.
Ability to safely operate and use appropriate tools and equipment within the employee's training and authorization.
Free from drug and alcohol abuse.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed in office, retail, warehouse, production, and outdoor environments.
Regular travel to Goodwill VSB Retail, Mission Services, warehouse, and administrative locations is required.
May be exposed to dust, noise, temperature changes, moving equipment, construction areas, and other conditions typical of facilities-maintenance work; required PPE must be used.

Equipment, Machines, and Tools Used

Appropriate hand and power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment
Computer, printer, copy machine, phone, mobile device, and related office equipment.
Company vehicles and other assigned equipment, as authorized.

Personal Protective Equipment

Steel-toe shoes or boots.
Gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, safety belt or fall-protection equipment, and other PPE assigned at orientation or as required by the task.
