Full Job Description

Position Summary: The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC and manual machining equipment to manufacture, modify, and repair precision components. This role requires interpreting blueprints and work orders, ensuring parts meet exact specifications and tolerances, performing quality inspections, and supporting continuous improvement of manufacturing processes while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC machines to manufacture precision parts according to blueprints, work orders, and specifications.
Program, edit, and troubleshoot G-code and CNC machine controls to ensure efficient and accurate production.
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to verify quality standards and maintain tolerances up to .0005 inches.
Select and install tooling, fixtures, and machine setups required for each job while optimizing production processes.
Perform machine maintenance and follow safety procedures to ensure equipment reliability, product quality, and a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Experience with CNC lathes, Fanuc controls, and G-code programming/editing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.

Skills

Proven experience operating CNC machinery with a strong understanding of CNC programming languages such as G-code.
Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T principles for precise machining.
Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques is a plus.
Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar tools for design review.
Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
Strong understanding of tooling selection, setup procedures, and machining best practices.
Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC control systems.
Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations during setup and operation.
Ability to operate forklifts safely when handling raw materials or finished products.
