Full Job Description

Job Summary
Join our team as a Payroll Assistant, where you will play a key role in supporting daily payroll operations across our organization. This position provides hands-on experience in timekeeping, payroll processing, employee record management, and compliance within a fast-paced agricultural environment.

You will assist in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain payroll records, and support employees with payroll-related questions. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build foundational payroll and HR experience while contributing to a team that values accuracy, accountability, and service.

Duties

Collect and review timekeeping information from field operations, including daily crew sheets (digital and paper-based)
Verify accuracy of time records and work with supervisors to resolve discrepancies and obtain approvals
Assist with payroll processing activities, including assembling and distributing weekly paychecks
Maintain and organize payroll records to ensure accurate and compliant documentation
Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, including paychecks, hours worked, and employment verifications
Support processing of sick pay requests and other payroll-related adjustments
Collect and file payroll documents submitted from the field
Scan and maintain payroll documentation for recordkeeping purposes
Download and organize daily field probes for supervisors
Print and prepare required payroll and field documents, including labels as requested
Assist with new hire orientation and general HR/payroll administrative tasks as needed
Help maintain compliance with federal and state labor regulations, including required postings
Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Experience

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when working with timekeeping and payroll data
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong communication and customer service skills when assisting employees and supervisors
Basic understanding of payroll processes, wage laws, and deductions (preferred)
Knowledge of wage garnishments and withholding orders (preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Experience with payroll or HR systems is a plus
Bilingual in Spanish required
Agriculture experience preferred
Valid California Driver’s License required
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour
