Full Job Description

The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is seeking an experienced attorney to join our team as a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned prosecutor or litigation attorney who is committed to public service and the pursuit of justice. The successful candidate will independently manage a felony and/or misdemeanor caseload, provide sound legal advice to law enforcement agencies, negotiate plea agreements, prepare and argue motions, conduct bench and jury trials.

Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and in good standing with the Missouri Bar, or eligible for admission by reciprocity if applicable.
Minimum of five (5) years of criminal prosecution, criminal defense, or comparable litigation experience preferred. Exceptional candidates with other significant courtroom experience will be considered.
Demonstrated trial experience and strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and work effectively with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, and court personnel.
Must also be able to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening, and participate in random drug testing

Preferred Qualifications

Significant felony prosecution experience.
Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys or legal staff.
Experience using PROSECUTOR by Karpel or another electronic case management system.

Work Environment

A flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for highly qualified candidates whose experience and work history demonstrate the ability to successfully manage responsibilities with limited on-site supervision. Regular in-person court appearances, meetings, and other official duties will require travel to Christian County as needed.
