Full Job Description

A great UHY client is seeking an Interim Controller. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with balance sheet roll forwards, month-end close and journal entries, and a solid understanding of financial statements and inventory accounting.

The Interim Controller role is a hybrid position with one day per week onsite. This is a part-time position with around 15-20 hours per week for 6 weeks This is a contracted position.

Interim Controller Responsibilities

Prepare work papers to support month-end close journal entries.
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Review weekly accounts payable activity, invoices, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
Prepare Excel-based reports and schedules to support month-end financial reporting.
Perform the month-end system shutdown process after training.
Assist with year-end financial statement preparation and audit support.
Prepare commission calculations and reports for leadership review.
Review accounting work papers prepared by staff and senior accountants to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Support inventory accounting activities, reconciliations, and related reporting.
Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
Analyze balance sheet accounts and complete balance sheet roll forwards.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Provide support on special accounting projects as needed.

Interim Controller Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience in an Interim Controller, Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Senior Auditor, or similar accounting leadership role.
Strong understanding of balance sheet roll forwards, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
Experience reviewing work papers prepared by accounting staff.
Inventory accounting experience preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience using Infor MapEx (green screen environment) is strongly preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Flexibility to support critical month-end and year-end accounting deadlines.
Payroll processing experience is not required for this role.
