Job Summary
Performs a variety of skilled machining tasks relating to calculating dimensions or tolerances, using instruments as micrometers or vernier calipers. This position requires skill to machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. This job will require applicant to work inside and/or outside in the presence of fumes, chemicals, and dust.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are as follows: machinery components of the ship either repair or new builds are completed on time, to specifications, and within scope of the project 100% of the time, completes all required company training 100% of the time and follows all company policies and procedures 100% of the time.
Essential Functions
The individual assigned to this position must, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to perform the following functions:
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.

Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
- Reasoning skills to accommodate individual situations and provide solutions to issues if they arise.
Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency. Confer with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information. Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled. Program electronic instruments for operating numerically controlled machine tools. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products. Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.

Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
