NM&C is seeking an experienced Traveling Commercial Site Superintendent to support the assigned Project Manager in running the day-to-day operations of commercial construction sites across various states. This role is responsible for leading daily field execution, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, enforcing safety and quality standards, maintaining project documentation, and helping ensure work is completed in alignment with client expectations, schedule requirements, budget considerations, and NM&C standards.
At NM&C, projects do not always begin with full plans or specifications. The Traveling Commercial Site Superintendent is expected to work proactively with the Project Manager, clients, internal teams, and subcontractors to help verify existing conditions, define scope, clarify requirements, develop field execution strategies, and manage evolving project details throughout the lifecycle of the project.

- Support the Project Manager in managing daily jobsite operations, including field coordination, subcontractor scheduling, site logistics, safety oversight, quality control, documentation, punch list, and closeout support
- Serve as NM&C’s on-site representative, maintaining professional communication with clients, facility contacts, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal team members
- Lead field execution on jobs that may not have full drawings, plans, or specifications, working with the Project Manager, clients, and subcontractors to verify site conditions, clarify scope, document assumptions, and develop practical execution plans
- Coordinate, manage, and hold subcontracted vendors accountable for scope compliance, quality, manpower, productivity, schedule adherence, jobsite cleanliness, safety, and daily communication
- Assist with project schedules and look-ahead planning, including daily coordination, weekly updates, sequencing, inspection planning, delivery coordination, and identifying potential delays before they impact the project
- Maintain complete and accurate jobsite documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, manpower logs, deliveries, inspections, weather impacts, visitors, safety observations, field issues, and closeout information
- Identify scope gaps, field conflicts, constructability issues, damage, deficient work, and potential change conditions, documenting each item clearly and communicating impacts to the Project Manager in a timely manner
- Coordinate inspections, testing, permits, utilities, and jurisdictional requirements when applicable, including communication with AHJs, third-party inspectors, utility providers, and subcontractors
- Enforce safety standards and jobsite requirements, including OSHA compliance, PPE requirements, toolbox talks, required postings, housekeeping, corrective actions, and incident documentation
- Perform daily quality control reviews to confirm work is complete, code-compliant, clean, and consistent with available project documents, approved scopes, manufacturer requirements, client expectations, and NM&C standards
- Manage jobsite logistics and general conditions, including site access, staging, temporary protection, signage, dumpsters, temporary facilities, rental equipment, security, and site cleanliness
- Conduct kickoff meetings, weekly subcontractor meetings, safety meetings, and daily coordination discussions as required by the project and Project Manager
- Support change management and cost control by documenting field conditions, obtaining backup information, tracking potential back charges, avoiding unauthorized purchases, and submitting timely receipts and expense information
- Lead punch list and turnover readiness activities, including final cleaning coordination, final photos, client readiness checks, owner/vendor coordination, closeout documentation support, and confirmation that the site is ready for turnover
- Travel to project sites in various states and remain on site for assigned project durations as required by client needs, schedule demands, and NM&C business requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams including project management, estimating, accounting, dispatch, vendor relations, and leadership to support successful project delivery
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent, Construction Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or comparable field leadership role on commercial construction, renovation, tenant improvement, retail, restaurant, office, facility upgrade, or occupied-building projects
- Strong understanding of commercial construction means and methods, sequencing, trade coordination, inspections, safety practices, quality control, and field documentation
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with incomplete drawings, limited specifications, evolving scopes, or fast-track schedules while maintaining clear communication and strong documentation
- Comfort working in a vendor-managed construction model, coordinating subcontractors rather than self-performed labor and holding trade partners accountable to scope, schedule, quality, and safety requirements
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, sketches, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, and field documentation when available
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, vendors, facility contacts, and internal stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially with daily logs, photos, site documentation, schedules, punch lists, receipts, and closeout materials
- Proficiency with basic technology and construction documentation tools, including Microsoft Office, smartphone-based photo/documentation processes, and construction management or field service platforms
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with frequent travel, changing site conditions, and multiple stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States for project assignments
- OSHA 30 preferred; CPR/First Aid preferred or willingness to obtain
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing commercial renovation and tenant improvement projects, including work in occupied or operational facilities
- Experience supporting national or multi-site client portfolios with consistent field execution across multiple markets
- Experience leading projects from early scope development through execution, including site walks, field verification, client discovery, vendor input, and fast-track planning
- Familiarity with projects initiated without full plans or specifications, requiring scope clarification, field measurements, practical problem solving, and phased execution
- Experience with inspections, punch list management, turnover preparation, and closeout documentation on commercial projects
- Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Dynamics 365 Field Service, or similar construction project management platforms
- Strong background in problem solving, decision making, subcontractor accountability, and managing evolving project conditions
