Job Summary and Qualifications

Directs and manages the operations and activities of the Med Surg. department. Responsible for the overall management of the departments operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established. Responsible for the staff performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities in accord with corporate, hospital, department, and safety policies and procedures to meet both company care and regulatory requirements. Responsible for providing high-quality patient care to and acting as a liaison with patients and their representative, physicians, employees, and community agencies. Responsible for the efficient operation of the departments and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize cost.

The Director assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing and managing the department and staff to assure quality service. The director is responsible for meeting JCAHO Standards, complying with corporate policy and procedures, promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and appropriate resource management.

What qualifications you will need:

Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
Bachelors Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
(RN) Registered Nurse
Minimum 3 years of clinical Inpatient nursing experience in an acute care Hospital setting
Minimum 2 years management experience as a Nursing Manager or Nursing Director in an acute care Hospital setting

We are an Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Primary Stroke Center. HCA Florida Palms West Hospital has emergency services, a dedicated New Life Center and a Level II NICU. We have a full-service Children’s Hospital. Services include outpatient rehabilitation, an aquatics center, orthopedic spine center, robotics, and interventional radiology. HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is located on a 94-acre campus in Palm Beach County. The surrounding areas include Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and Loxahatchee.
