**Job Summary**
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented KG-6th Grade Academic Coach to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced office environment and has experience in customer support and administrative tasks.
The Academic Coach serves as an instructional leader who supports teachers in improving instructional practices, student achievement, curriculum implementation, and classroom effectiveness. The Academic Coach collaborates with faculty, administrators, and support staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement that aligns with the mission, vision, and biblical worldview of First Baptist Christian Academy (FBCA).
The Academic Coach serves as a mentor, trainer, and resource for teachers, helping them develop professionally and implement best practices in teaching and learning. Teacher evaluation may also be performed.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Support teachers in planning and delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction.
- Model effective teaching strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Assist teachers in integrating biblical worldview principles into instruction.
- Facilitate instructional coaching cycles including observation, feedback, goal setting, and reflection.
- Encourage the use of research-based instructional practices that increase student engagement and achievement.
- Assist teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
Professional Development
- Plan and lead professional development sessions for faculty and staff.
- Provide training on curriculum implementation, instructional strategies, assessment practices, and educational technology.
- Support new teacher orientation and mentoring programs.
- Develop resources and materials to support teacher growth.
- Coordinate ongoing professional learning communities (PLCs) and collaborative planning opportunities.
Curriculum and Assessment Support
- Collaborate with administrators and teachers to ensure curriculum alignment and vertical articulation.
- Assist teachers in developing lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Support the analysis of student achievement data, including MAP Growth, classroom assessments, and standardized testing.
- Help teachers use assessment data to improve instruction and student outcomes.
- Monitor instructional programs and recommend improvements.
Classroom Support
- Conduct non-evaluative classroom observations.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching conversations.
- Assist teachers in establishing effective classroom environments.
- Support intervention and enrichment efforts for students.
- Help teachers address instructional challenges and develop action plans.
Educational Technology
- Assist teachers in effectively integrating technology into instruction.
- Provide training and support for instructional technology platforms.
- Encourage innovative teaching practices that enhance learning.
School Improvement
- Participate in school improvement planning and accreditation initiatives.
- Support implementation of school-wide academic goals.
- Assist with curriculum reviews and program evaluations.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Spiritual Leadership
- Model Christ-like character and servant leadership.
- Support the spiritual mission of the school through personal example and professional conduct.
- Encourage teachers in their spiritual growth and ministry to students.
- Integrate biblical principles into coaching conversations and professional development activities.
- Participate in chapel services, faculty devotions, and school ministry activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree required.
- Valid teaching certification required.
Experience
- Minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in instructional practices and student achievement.
- Experience leading professional development or mentoring teachers preferred.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and instructional coaching preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of effective instructional strategies and educational best practices.
- Knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, and data analysis.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and trust with teachers.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with educational technology and learning management systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
