Director of Music Ministry

POSITION TITLE

Director of Music Ministry

STATUS

Full Time, Salary range

$45,000 to $50,000

REPORTS TO

Senior Pastor

YEAR

PURPOSE

Oversee and coordinate the overall music department: accompanists, live band, directors, and musicians in cooperation with the Senior Pastor to enrich worship experiences (traditional and contemporary) and congregational life.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong music education background with exceptional musicianship.

· Extensive knowledge of diverse church music literature and repertoire (traditional through modern).

· Proficient keyboard skills for rehearsals and parts accompaniments.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Worship & Musical Direction

· Direct Choirs (Chancel Choir, Voices of Faith and Praise Team) at two Sunday morning services, conduct weekly rehearsals (including sectionals), and direct special services as needed. Lead Contemporary worship.

· Plan and produce at least two major seasonal music presentations annually (e.g., Christmas, Lenten Worship, and special concerts).

· Arrange and coordinate special music (handbell choir, children's choir, solos, ensembles, instrumentalists) across all services.

· Oversee and collaborate with the Handbell Choir Director and Children's Choir Director for regular monthly worship performances.

2. Administration & Leadership

· Meet weekly with the Pastor and staff for worship planning and attend Worship/Music Committee meetings.

· Actively recruit new choir members on an ongoing basis and maintain regular contact with absentees.

· Expand and curate a diverse music library suited to the church’s growing congregation.

· Appoint and supervise music librarian(s) and oversee routine maintenance for drum set, piano, keyboard, and handbells.

· Participate in annual continuing education in church music to foster continuous growth and skill development.

3. Congregational Engagement

· Participate actively in PCUMC ministries through prayer, presence, spiritual gifts, and talents.

· Perform other ministry-related duties as assigned.
