Job Overview
The Assistant Golf Professional supports the Director of Golf in the daily operation of the Club’s golf program while delivering an exceptional, personalized experience to members and guests. This position is highly visible and member-facing and plays an important role in tournament operations, golf programming, Golf Shop operations, instruction, pace of play, and overall service standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Member & Guest Experience
- Provide friendly, professional, and personalized service to members and guests.
- Develop strong relationships with members and learn their golf preferences and needs.
- Maintain a visible presence in the Golf Shop, first tee, practice facilities, and other golf areas.
- Greet members and guests by name whenever possible.
- Respond promptly to member questions, requests, and concerns.
- Assist members with tee times, tournament registration, merchandise, handicaps, and general golf information.
- Promote Club golf events, programs, lessons, and merchandise.
- Consistently represent the Club with professionalism and a positive attitude.
Tournament Operations
- Assist with the planning and execution of Club tournaments, championships, men's and women's events, couples golf, guest events, and special programming.
- Prepare tournament materials including pairings, scorecards, cart signs, starting assignments, rules sheets, and results.
- Ensure tournament information is accurate and communicated to members in a timely manner.
- Assist with tournament registration, scoring, awards, and post-event communication.
- Become proficient with the Club's tournament management software.
- Maintain organized tournament records and calendars.
Daily Golf Operations
- Assist the Director of Golf with daily Golf Shop and golf operations.
- Monitor tee sheets and coordinate member and guest play.
- Assist with first-tee operations and pace-of-play management.
- Communicate course conditions, maintenance activities, and operational updates to members.
- Coordinate with Outside Services to ensure carts, bags, practice facilities, and staging areas are prepared to Club standards.
- Assist with handicap administration and posting procedures.
- Ensure Golf Shop opening and closing procedures are completed accurately.
- Maintain professional standards throughout all golf areas.
Golf Shop & Merchandising
- Provide knowledgeable assistance to members purchasing apparel, equipment, accessories, and Club merchandise.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and visually appealing Golf Shop.
- Assist with receiving, tagging, displaying, and organizing merchandise.
- Support inventory counts and inventory control procedures.
- Process sales, returns, special orders, and member charges accurately.
- Learn current merchandise offerings and provide appropriate product recommendations.
- Assist the Buyer/Merchandiser and Director of Golf with special events, trunk shows, and merchandise promotions.
Golf Instruction & Player Development
- Provide individual and group golf instruction based on experience and PGA qualifications.
- Assist with clinics, junior golf, women's and men's programming, and other player-development initiatives.
- Encourage participation among new and developing golfers.
- Help create programming that makes golf welcoming and enjoyable for players of all skill levels.
- Continually develop knowledge of golf instruction, equipment, technology, and industry trends.
Communication
- Maintain timely and professional communication with members and fellow employees.
- Answer Golf Shop telephone calls and emails promptly.
- Ensure member questions receive appropriate follow-up.
- Communicate tournament details, changes, results, and golf updates accurately.
- Escalate significant member concerns to the Director of Golf when appropriate.
- Participate in departmental meetings and daily team communication.
Team & Leadership Expectations
The Assistant Golf Professional is expected to:

Qualifications
- PGA Associate or PGA Membership preferred.
- Previous golf operations experience, preferably within a private country club or high-end golf environment.
- Knowledge of the Rules of Golf, tournament operations, handicap procedures, and golf etiquette.
- Experience with tournament management and tee-time software preferred.
- Golf retail and point-of-sale experience preferred.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with members, guests, and employees.
- Passion for golf and a desire to grow professionally within the industry.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move golf bags, merchandise, and equipment as reasonably required.
- Must be available for early mornings, weekends, holidays, tournaments, and special Club events.

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
