SUMMARY: The Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer services and client-focused events across Desert Arc programs. This position supports meaningful community engagement, enhances client experience, and ensures that volunteer involvement and all-client events align with Desert Arc’s mission, values, and person-centered service philosophy. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Client Services and works closely with program leadership, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in human services, nonprofit administration, event coordination, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
· Minimum of two years’ experience coordinating volunteers, events or community programs
· Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or in nonprofit human services.
· Valid California Driver License with clean DMV record
· Strong organizational, time management, and follow-through skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
· Proficiency with Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel
· Experience planning and coordinating large-scale community or client-focused events preferred
· Familiarity with person-centered practices preferred
· Experience working with diverse populations and community partners

Volunteer Services Management
· Develop and manage Desert Arc’s volunteer program across all sites and services
· Recruit volunteers through community outreach, partnerships, events, and referrals
· Coordinate volunteer screening, orientation, and training
· Match and place volunteers based on skills, interests, and program needs
· Ensure volunteers understand Desert Arc values, confidentiality requirements, and expectations related to client dignity and safety
· Maintain accurate and complete volunteer documentation including applications, background clearances, training records, and hours of service
· Provide ongoing supervision, communication, and support to volunteers
· Address volunteer performance concerns and resolve issues in collaboration with leadership as needed
· Plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition activities
Client Events Coordination
· Coordinate all agency-wide client events including the Client Holiday Party, Fall Festival, Spring Picnic in the Park, and quarterly all-client recognition and thank-you events
· Plan and manage event logistics including scheduling, venues, vendors, permits, supplies, accessibility considerations, and transportation coordination
· Collaborate with Program Managers and Supervisors to ensure events are inclusive, person-centered, and responsive to client needs and preferences
· Coordinate staff and volunteer roles and assignments for events
· Ensure events meet Desert Arc safety standards, supervision requirements, and risk management expectations
· Support additional client activities and events as assigned
Client Council Support
· Coordinate Client Council meetings and related activities
· Support meeting scheduling, agendas, materials, and documentation
· Encourage and support client self-advocacy, participation, and engagement
· Collaborate with staff to appropriately communicate Client Council feedback and recommendations
Collaboration and Administrative Responsibilities
· Work collaboratively with Client Services leadership, Program Managers, Supervisors, and support departments
· Coordinate with Human Resources on volunteer onboarding and compliance requirements
· Track and report volunteer participation, hours, and event outcomes

· Support CARF readiness and documentation standards related to volunteer and client engagement activities
· Maintain organized records, calendars, and tracking systems
· Represent Desert Arc in a professional and positive manner at community events
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This position requires driving between Desert Arc campuses or facilities and travel to community locations or events.

b. The employee must have the ability to lift, pull, push, run and manipulate/use adaptive equipment and patients, which require strength and gross motor and fine motor coordination. The employee must be able to perform CPR and administer First-Aid. The position requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time. The position requires ability to operate an automobile and a computer. The employee must be able to climb stairs.

Pay: From $74,464.00 per year
