Patient Account Specialist | St. Petersburg, FL

About the Role

The Patient Account Specialist provides cash posting operations to the billing team within our Revenue Cycle Management function. This role ensures the timely, accurate posting of electronic and manual cash receipts, denials, and adjustments to patient accounts in our eClinicalWorks EMR.

Key Responsibilities

Post routine electronic and manual cash receipts, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts
Work self-pay queues, communicating with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans
Reconcile bank cash posting logs monthly and pull remits from payer portals
Perform bank reconciliation for manual checks and ERA payments in Excel
Balance electronic and manual cash receipts through report generation and analysis
Resolve and identify outstanding variances, errors, and posting issues
Post zero payment EOBs and process contractual or agency adjustments
Meet month-end deadlines for cash posting and reconciliation

Qualifications

High school diploma required
2 years of cash posting, accounting clerk, or related experience preferred
Knowledge of EMR systems, eClinicalWorks preferred
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
Proficiency in 10-key data entry and word processing/spreadsheet software
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Valid Florida driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation
Must pass Level II background check, fingerprinting, and E-Verify employment eligibility
